πŸ™ƒ Coaching has enlightened my life for YEARS! There's nothing like seeing a kiddo (or adult) achieve a skill by themselves for the first time,* and being the person that helps them get there is endlessly fulfilling. When a kiddo lights up like a Christmas tree because they finally succeeded, I'm reminded of how I felt the first time I did that skill. It's the best! It feels so good to give people that same experience! πŸ™πŸΌ Grateful for the connections I've built with the students and families over the years. Hoping to make more connections like this in the San Diego area, so, if you know of any gymnasts, cheerleaders, dancers, or anyone that wants to learn to tumble, send them my way! (If you aren't in the San Diego area but still want to learn from me, please reach out!) ❀️ To all of the students in this video, and all the students I coached in Nashville over the last 12.5 years, THANK YOU! I miss you all dearly! Please don't hesitate to reach out and say hi (if you haven't already)! *In this video Evie does a back handspring by herself for the first time (0:24), and Kate lands a front aerial for the first time (1:05). THESE are some of the "Christmas tree" moments I'm referring to! #FlipADay #tumbling #tumble #gymnastics #dancers #cheerleaders #cheer #gymnasts #coach #tumblingcoach #LaJolla #SanDiego

πŸ™ƒ (Part 1 of 2 since Reels can only be 90 secs) Can't believe Day 1 of #FlipADay was 10 years ago today! What a journey it has been since then. So grateful I stuck with it for WAY more than my original goal of 365 days in a row. If I hadn't stuck with it for longer, Day 800 never would have happened, and therefore, I may have never discovered my obsession with "FlipDunking." If I had never discovered my love and ability to flip and dunk a ball, I may have never become a part of @slamballofficial . Crazy how one action you take today can totally alter what your life will look like 10 years from now. πŸ™πŸΌ I'm writing / saying all of this to try and show you where chasing your happiness can lead you. You really never know until you really devote yourself to living your happiness every day. Prioritize your mental health! You deserve to be happy every day, at least once a day. All my best to you and yours for 2024! ❀️ ❓ Would you want to see all 1,115 days of FlipADay in one video? Or even broken up videos? Trying to figure out how to display/share this monstrosity of a video project! πŸ‘• by @honorthegift β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ #FlipADay #SlamBall #happiness #mentalhealth #happy #positivity #lifestyle #newyearsresolution #newyearsresolutions #goodhabit #flip #flips #flipping #trampoline #dunking #dunk #motivation #inspiration #takecareofyourself #selfcare #selflove #HTG #HonorTheGift

πŸ™ƒ This was the video feature that was shown during halftime at some SlamBall games this summer. This video would play, then @bojo_live would grab the mic and ask me some questions. I would speak to the crowd for a quick second then demonstrate some dunks. It was a blast and a fun challenge! I think @rsporush and Connor did a great job filming / editing this video! I also really love seeing how far the players came from Day 1 of training camp to the last game of the series. So much growth! So grateful to have been a part of it, and so honored to be in the position to help SlamBall in any way! It's something I hold very closely to my heart. β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ #FlipADay #SlamBall #training #trampoline #basketball #trainingcamp #coach #coaching #gymnastics #gymnast #athlete #athletes #mindset #mentality #trusttheprocess

Yes, the rim is 10', and yes, I use a trampoline to dunk. I can barely touch net without one πŸ˜‚ My dunks are physically impossible without a trampoline. The most common misconception about @slamballofficial and SlamBall courts is that it's easy to dunk because we use trampolines. These are not normal tramps--these are Olympic-level spring beds (shout out to @maxairtramps )! If you don't know how to use these tramps properly, 1.) you're not going to be able to dunk, and 2.) you'll most likely realize that being that high comes with some fear and discomfort. It's one challenge getting high enough to dunk, and another totally different challenge when you realize you have to know how to come down safely from a height like that. All the pro athletes I mentioned in the video were only able to dunk after I taught them how to. There's both a mental and a physical challenge that comes along with dunking on a SlamBall court. You can mess yourself up in a major way if you don't know what you're doing. You can also ask any SlamBall player about the cardio element. SlamBall is an incredibly difficult sport, and is wildly under-rated, under-appreciated, and under-respected. It requires a unique breed of specialized athlete because the sport itself is a mix of basketball, football, hockey, and gymnastics. It looks easy, but it's incredibly far from being easy. So much love to all my #Slamily members that get what it takes to be proficient on SlamBall court, let alone be a SlamBall player. #FlipADay #dunk #slamdunk #basketball

Dunk Breakdown: Front Flip, 540, Between The Legs, Behind The Back (Originally called "The Crazy Gravy Train") This is likely the most complicated dunk I've ever done. So much happens in such a short amount of time. The hardest part was mastering the flow of the ball handling portion. Doing a between the legs, behind the back is tough in the midst of a Rudi (front flip, 540). My hand placement and timing had to be just right for it to all work. Plus, I need to make sure I bounce super high to complete all the movements and still be above the rim to make the dunk. But man, whenever I hit this dunk, it's a massive boost of happiness and adrenaline! What would you name this dunk? πŸŽ₯ at @slamballofficial #FlipADay #SlamBall #flip #dunk #slamdunk @espn @sportscenter @houseofhighlights

Front flip, under both legs is a 99% make for me, especially with the @jumpman23 Jet 7.0 gloves. Love dunking with these on. πŸ•ΆοΈ by @blenders 🩳 by @coveusa πŸ‘Ÿ by @offaxisacrobatics πŸ€ Hoop by @uball πŸŽ₯ with a @gopro Hero 11 Black #FlipADay #flips #dunk #slamdunk #trickshot

Dunk Breakdown: Barani Ghost Clapback A simpler but cool looking dunk. It was an idea I came up with right before a @slamballofficial game started, so I had to act on the inspiration and knock it out quickly. There are two main keys that make this dunk work. 1.) Bouncing high enough to catch the ball above the rim and still have time to dunk it. 2.) Timing the Ghost properly. Ghosting the ball is all about timing and touch. If I released the ball too early, it would take on too much momentum from the bounce and fly into my chest. Too late, and I wouldn't have enough time to complete the clapback and catch the ball in time to make the dunk. Ghosting the ball always creates such a cool feeling. It's like toying with anti-gravity in a way. πŸ‘• by @rhoback #FlipADay #flips #dunk #slamball #slamdunk @sportscenter @espn @houseofhighlights

Every angle of the front pike, pop through dunk I hit recently. Gotta start naming my dunks! What would you name this one? πŸŽ₯ by @big.bro.joe 🩳 by @coveusa πŸ‘Ÿ by @offaxisacrobatics #FlipADay #flipping #dunk #slamdunk #trickshots @dunk @espn @sportscenter @houseofhighlights

Trick Shot Breakdown: THE TOUGHEST Shot I've Ever Done I've done way more acrobatically difficult and way farther trick shots, but nothing comes close to how difficult this shot was. Over 1,300 attempts, 7 sessions, and 20 hours and 51 minutes of active filming time. Everything had to be PERFECT for this shot to work. I had to throw the football harder than I threw the basketball with my feet. It was like an extreme form of patting your head and rubbing your stomach. It was tough to scale back the power on the foot throw because I can absolutely launch a basketball with my feet while flipping. The force behind each ball had to be exactly right. Obviously, I had to throw each ball hard enough to make it to the hoop, but if I threw one ball too hard, and the other too soft, the balls would collide mid-air (you can see that happen in one of these attempts). Look how close the balls get to colliding on the successful attempt! Maybe an inch away from each other! I always aimed to throw a perfect spiral with the football so it would have a cleaner chance of swishing before the basketball--easier said than done. The last and kinda understated challenge I faced with this shot, was how the basketball was tearing up the insides of my ankles, hence the tape. After jamming the ball between my ankles to secure a good grip literally hundreds of times, I developed some pretty gnarly blisters. I still have faint scars on both ankles from this shot. Despite all of this, I stayed positive, I stayed patient, and I persevered. Nothing like the feeling of succeeding after failing hundreds and hundreds of times in a row! πŸ§’πŸ‘• by @rhoback #FlipADay #backflip #trickshot #dudeperfect #trickshots @espn @houseofhighlights @sportscenter @dudeperfect

All angles of the front full dunk I did on the @uball hoop recently. Mayyyy be able to add an eastbay to this. Would be wild! πŸŽ₯ by @big.bro.joe 🩳 by @coveusa πŸ‘Ÿ by @offaxisacrobatics #FlipADay #dunk #slamdunk #frontfull #trickshot

Trick Shot Breakdown: Back Flip Foot Shot Making a full court shot of any kind is always exciting, but it hits differently when you do a back flip and throw the ball with your feet. No backboard needed! I'm fairly accurate with aiming shots like this. The challenge is how much "umph" to put behind the ball. If I were to throw the ball as hard as I could, I could probably make a shot from 1.5 courts away. The momentum of the back flip coupled with a strong flick of the legs can send the ball absolutely flying. So, to make a shot like this from maybe 75' away, I needed to scale back the power. Shout out to my Slamily members for the energy on this one! @stanleyfletcherjr @__bryce23 @tonycrosbyy @luke.haworth πŸŽ₯ at @slamballofficial #FlipADay #SlamBall #backflip #trickshot #dudeperfect @espn @houseofhighlights @sportscenter @dudeperfect
