Orlando’s music community is hurting right now.
Uncle Lou’s wasn’t just a venue — it was a safe space. A place where artists, neighbors, and communities came together for years through music, culture, and connection.
Now, Uncle Lou is in ICE custody after local enforcement activity reportedly led to immigration enforcement involvement.
For many Floridians, this is another reminder that ICE is becoming increasingly embedded into everyday spaces across our state — including places people once believed were safe.
The Orlando community is now rallying around Uncle Lou and raising funds to support him and his family.

The proposed rules that seek to ban undocumented students from attending state colleges will no longer be heard at this Thursday’s Board of Education hearing.
📆 They have postponed the hearing on these rules to June 30th. The location is yet to be determined.
Let’s keep the pressure on!

“For the ultimate cure is the love of our people, so stand with me.”
Together, we honored Cinco de Mayo’s roots in resistance and courage. We heard powerful messages from local poets, artists, and leaders on the front lines of Miami’s diverse communities.
It’s certain — there is power in unity and collective action.
We’d like to thank Dominique the Poet, @girlcomesitwithme , for sharing her powerful poem with us.
We’d like to thank both our host, Books & Books, @booksandbooks , and our sponsor, 10 Days of Connection @10daysofconnection , for their continuous commitment to serving the people.
Stay involved and find more events through our pinned post, which we update every month.

📢 The People's Hearing 2026! Thank you to all of the amazing people who shared their testimony in Miami. It was incredible to hear so many voices testifying and doing their part to create a more just future.

The heat didn’t stop workers from showing up — and neither did fear. This May Day was about showing up for workers and reminding people that dignity on the job is non-negotiable. ✊🌱
A huge thank you to everyone who joined WeCount!’s Planting Justice, Sembrando Justicia, press conference and march for workers’ rights. Together, we spoke directly with retailers and community members about the protections every worker deserves — including access to water, shade, respectful break times, and safe working conditions.
Workers keep Florida moving. They deserve to be protected, respected, and heard every single day.
Thank you to every organizer, worker, volunteer, and community member who made this powerful day possible. This is what solidarity looks like. 💚

Claims of personal assurances made to a single person in Miami’s FIFA Host Committee regarding no ICE at World Cup events are not credible. The administration needs to make a formal announcement of a moratorium of immigration enforcement. Also in Florida, our local police are deputized as immigration agents, so it’s not just an ICE issue.
Today, The New York Times reported that Florida officials were in talks about closing down the Everglades Detention Camp. This camp is nothing more than a desecration of sacred indigenous land where over 15,000 kidnapped individuals were processed and then deported or disappeared. No matter how hard DeSantis tries to paint this place as a success, it is clear that this was a site where people were tortured. The Trump Regime has plans to expand mass detention in the US, and we need you to fight with us to make sure families are safe. If you’re ready to join the fight, click on the link in bio.
