It has been a week since we opened the doors at La Panza for our DotFlex X TRUK all-dayer. Needed to let the dust settle — & still quite lost for words. Two years without a Dotflex, and never in Bristol — so to see both venues absolutely packed with people wigging out was just incredible. Non-scripted sets from start to finish, & an incredible tech team managing the logistics of running two venues & rigs with some overlap. It was so hard to pull away before the end of Sybil’s set — she is FIERCE. & then of course Alex Downey delivering an absolute masterclass on 3 turntables, seemingly effortlessly pulling it out of the bag after our 4-way b2b. & WE HAVE ALEX’S SET RECORDED — so we’ll be dropping that at some point. Playing on lots of new gear with no plan & hitting so many firsts in one day — a 4-way b2b with my best mates behind the decks & on the dancefloor. Loved our little team building exercise beforehand too — those who know, know 😉 The venue staff at The Cider Box & La Panza were warm, welcoming & super professional. So many people travelled across the country to make it happen & Tom and I are beyond grateful. This definitely won’t be the last time we work together! Thank you everyone!!! Working with him on this has been an absolute dream & I couldn’t think of a better person to bring DotFlex to Bristol with. Few weeks later but here is my warm up for Mark Broom, Nez and the Nonom DJs — all were amazing and Rhythm Session set the mood perfectly ahead too. My first time playing on ‘modern’ CDJs — and I went considerably harder than usual. Wanted to push the new system at Move (and myself!), so this one is higher octane than you’d typically hear from me. I think the set finds its groove in the second half once UFO95’s Surface 1 kicks in. Piska Power’s Unbenanntererer has completely stolen my heart. The sound design is CHEF’S KISS and I suspect I’ll be compelled to drop it in every set I play for the foreseeable, just to hear how it sits on different rigs. Had a lot of fun layering it. Run by Ms Ogyny, each event is guided by a slightly different breed of electronic music - although the foundations are firmly rooted in a broad-spectrum approach to techno. This event took place over 11 hours, with the strap-line ‘from courtyard chug, to in the club’, & in some ways was a party over 15 years in the making. Ms Ogyny first meet Claire on her 21st birthday in Montreal, waiting ever since for the stars to align so she could book her in the UK. World-class VJ Diagraf accompanying her was the icing on an already sweet AF cake.
