SIGNS OF A PRODUCTIVE SUMMER
Me in the studio wearing my very favourite clothes: thirty-two year old sweatshirt, and painting jeans. It's been weeks of introspection, playing around, making mistakes, finally getting somewhere. I'm fairly excited about my new work x

ONE STEP AT A TIME
Studio window: 010825
It's been a day.
Hell, it's been a week.
A to-do list that feels like a mountain
not much time to call my own,
such a massive desire to do the things that call me, thrill me,
make me feel alive.
But first
having to do the things
that need to be done.
I wrote on the window
to remind myself
that
all the small steps
forward and back
take you to the place
you need to be.
one step at a time
will lead you home.
SOMEWHERE THERE'S RAIN
STUDIO WINDOW: 21 07 25
True at the time of writing.
But you never know when
the weather will change
in Wellington.
As we walked down our steps
this morning
there was a lovely fat kererū chap
in the tree
right beside my head
I said to John
aren't we lucky.
To live here
to have this day
together
to have bodies able
to walk down
these steep steps
of ours.
This afternoon I'll have lunch
on my favourite rock
in our garden
surrounded by trees and birds
looking forward to getting my
hands on the spade
to dig the earth,
get sweaty making steps and terraces
for the flowers
on the slope with the north light.
How lucky I am
to have even an hour
of this glorious
pleasure .
STUDIO WINDOW
Still can't do a backward G, but I'm liking it all the same. Cant tell you how much fun I have drawing on the windows, and how firmly I believe in these words.
