London Dear Diary, Day 23: So long Belfast, Dublin and London! You have all been grand! I feel very lucky and extremely grateful for the time I’ve had. It was the experience of a lifetime to head over to Belfast to collaborate on a new creative project. 🎭 These opportunities - to work and immerse yourself in a city, culture and history - are rare as an indi artist, so I thank the Seaborn, Broughton & Walford Foundation for supporting this crucial phase of the development. There’s still more work to do, but watch this space for info on how you might be able to see the show in Australia this year. 🥳
Thanks again to: c21 Theatre and the National Celtic Festival; the cast and creatives involved; and to my loves at home - Chris, Grace and Chase - I’m on my way! Can’t wait to hug you all very soon! 🥰🥹

London Dear Diary, Day 22: Started the day with a coffee catch-up with @marni_smyth in Soho. So good to catch up - even if it’s on the other side of the world - and hear all the goss. 😜
Lots of wandering around the theatre district and Covent Garden, plus a little souvenir shopping for my loves back home. 💕
Then off to a matinee of Evening All Afternoon by Anna Ziegler at the Donmar Warehouse - luuuurrrvvvee that space! Can I have a play on there one day, please? More wandering, dinner for one along Southbank, and then finished the night at the Kit Kat Club with Cabaret. A great way to spend a final night in London.

London Dear Diary, Day 21: A bit of a lazy start today: a sleep-in, a wander around Chelsea, and found an overpriced coffee. Did a little writing in the afternoon, then off to the theatre to see Dracula, starring Cynthia Erivo 🤩, adapted and directed by Kip Williams. 🤩🇦🇺 Truly a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see something like this in the West End. Her performance is non-stop and absolutely epic. And the camera ops and tech are just as mind-blowing. A great night seeing thrilling piece of cine-theatre. 🩸🎭

London Dear Diary, Day 20: A very theatrical day in London. Started with a lovely coffee catch-up with Amanda in Covent Garden, then off to the Royal Opera House where a wonderful old BAPA mate, Sarah, showed us around backstage. She’s been working there for almost 20 years now, and it was so special to see her again after all this time. 🥰
Truly mind-blowing to see how that incredible theatrical machine works from the inside. Just… magic.
The afternoon was spent wandering around Chelsea, then two shows at the Royal Court: the absolutely, heartbreakingly brilliant Guess How Much I Love You and the wild, playful Shitheads. My heart and brain are very full today. 🎭

Ware/London Dear Diary, Day 19: My final morning in Ware with Erin. We wandered into town for breakfast and coffee. Gosh, this place loves a bit of wordplay when it comes to shop names. 😜
A few more cat pats, then it was off to the station and into London. Oh my lady Ez, it was so lovely spending time with you. So sad to say goodbye. Tears!!! 🥺💕
Arrived in London and successfully navigated the busy Tube (hooray for colour-coded maps 🙌). Checked into my place in Chelsea. Ohhhh, it’s a fancy little area. Couldn’t resist a slice of lemon drizzle cake from an overpriced organic food shop - a tiny treat to have with my cuppa over the next few days.
Then it was off to the National Theatre to see The Playboy of the Western World… plus, of course, a little bookshop purchase. I love London at night, even when it’s cold and rainy. 🌧️

Ware Dear Diary, Day 18: A cozy day in Ware. A bit of a sleep in. A stroll into town for some scrumptious breakfast. Gooooood coffee. Swans. More relaxing by the fire. Reading. Chats, laughs and cups of tea with my lady. An absolutely delicious dinner at Lussmanns in Hertford. 🦢📖☕️😌

Dublin/Ware Dear Diary, Day 17: So long Ireland and Northern Ireland! You have been wonderful! I’ve only been able to scratch the surface of your beautiful landscapes, towns and cities, and the fantastic people. I hope I get a chance to come back and experience more of what you have to offer soon. 🤞🍀
After breakfast and a final little wander through the streets of Dublin, Erin and I were off to the airport. The Cadburys sign opposite our departure gate was fitting - “Goodbye for now, my friend.” 🥹🇮🇪🥰
We landed in London in the late arvo, then hopped on a train to Ware to spend a few cosy nights with Erin and her cat, Jerry, on their barge. With Erin’s hubby and kiddo off on a NYC adventure, it turned into a very girlie night: homemade pie and orange cake (thanks, Corey!), a bit of TV, cat snuggles, and the fire crackling away. Enjoying the slower pace. Absolute bliss. 🍰🐈⬛🔥📺
