RIDGE HOUSE
We’re excited to share that Ridge House has been granted planning permission at committee! Located in a backland site with numerous constraints and complexities, we’re delighted to have secured this planning permission for our client.
The house has a strong relationship to external spaces, with overhangs and openings deep-set into reveals giving a sense of mass whilst offering passive solar shading. The roof is a twin volume mass to further reduce impact - as a result offering internal vaulted ceilings to the first floor rooms with curated views to the gardens.
At ground floor, the house has an east/west orientation, with the first floor set perpendicular on a north/south axis, linked by a central stair. This breaks down the volume and mass of the house to sit sympathetically in the backland setting.

KINGSTON VILLA
Replacing a dilapidated bungalow, this new family villa bordering Richmond park seeks to evolve the historic villa typology found in the street. The architecture is heavy, yet quiet with a focus on emphasising the fabulous location and panoramic views of the park. Bold white brickwork is contrasted by light coloured window frames, metalwork and arboreal planting. A double height living space in exposed brickwork becomes the feature element in the internal spatial composition whilst a processional staircase interconnects each floor, void spaces and park views. The interiors are rich and simple - and affectionately characterised by our clients’ belongings and artwork.

WIP | CUMBERLAND
Nearing completion, Cumberland includes a new white brick rear extension, a garden studio and an internal re-imagination of the ground floor living spaces which combine rich cherry finishes in joinery, exposed white bricks and handmade decorative tiles in a holistic vision. This is all set below a cranking ceiling of timber joists where a large pivot window on the rear facade overlooks a pond and stepped landscaping.

KINGSTON GRAMMAR SCHOOL 6TH FORM CENTRE
The new KGS Sixth Form Centre opened recently which adds to the School’s campus and facilities with a vibrant and social learning hub. Located within a 1980s office building, the refurbishment is the perfect example of adaptive re-use and retrofit in the heart of Kingston upon Thames. The building has been filled with a variety of different sized sixth form classrooms and ‘grown up’ social and quiet study spaces which aid older pupils with autonomous study. FCA have been delighted to be involved and it has been great to see students inhabiting the spaces!

COOMBE HOUSE
We’re delighted for our client following the granting of planning for their new highly sustainable family home. Within a secluded and tree lined sloping plot, the home is set over three levels and spatially revolves around a dramatic central atrium. A clerestory window is integrated into the ‘scissor’ roof which pulls light into the heart of the house and also provides the means for a passive ventilation strategy through stack effect. A light brick and cast stone panels combine to form colonnades, deeps set reveals and terraced patios.

Great to see that 4no new homes for Hounslow Council are now occupied following FCA’s successful planning permission. The scheme provides 100% affordable housing for the council. A key focus of the scheme are the environmental credentials incorporating; night time ventilation, heat storage, solar panels, stack ventilation, dual aspect cross ventilation, rainwater collection, a highly insulated fabric, thermal mass, underfloor heating, MVHR and air source heat pumps. The scheme focuses on high quality materials and simple design; affordable, aspirational, sustainable and practical.

FLEET STREET
FCA were proud to have been part of the team to refurbish 187 Fleet Street - a Grade II listed former bank - in the heart of the City of London. Adjoining St Dunstan-in-the-West Church, the building, constructed in 1834, sits as part of the historic fabric of Fleet Street. Internally, the building has been refurbished to a high quality CAT A+ office space whilst preserving the ornate fabric.
