My first Artwork is on the building of Gravestein.
This artwork represents the feelings and thoughts of residents of Geldershoofd and Gravestein, that was formally called De Gliphoeve.
It is a place that is more than a home. Residents are forced to leave their home for the renovation of these two flats. That sprouts out a lot of discussions, feelings and residents to worry more about the lost of their homes and where they belong than moving out to a different place.
This artwork is a mixture of Fleksick playing with words and Chimira Natanna with colors. We gave the building of Gravestein a poem and a mural for the people, to the people and by the people.
Translation of the poem:
How you watch the sun disappear behind me, it goes upwards for you
De Gliphoeve is my name
You are engraved in my heart and lungs
If it rains I’ll keep you dry
When it’s cold I’ll keep you warm
You are longing for me at the end of the day
You stoke the fire and take care of me when needed
You cook, you live together and you clean me
You keep my heart warm and rotating
You don’t neglect
