THE MAGNETIC FIELDS & FLEET FOXES JUST PERFORMED BOOK OF LOVE ON MY SHOW ‘ELIA VS ?’!!!!! My guests Stephin Merritt @themagfields & @robinpecknold@fleetfoxes joined me on @eastvillageradio to chat, perform & dj, and this collab came together spur of the moment right here in the booth. Magnificent!! Robin also broke open our hearts covering Judee Sill, and Stephin chatted his DJ night Porky’s which is tomorrow at @the_parkside_lounge_nyc & his recently being named as one of the greatest living American songwriters by @nytimes . (He agrees with me that I didn’t get voted in only on the technicality that I’m Welsh…) Listen back to the entire episode via the link in my bio. Thx to dear Stephin & Robin. & @aja_pecknold_smith ! 💛🤘

Moments in time captured during the making of Helplessness Blues woven into a video for “Grown Ocean” by @seanpecknold :
‘It was really fun documenting the making of that record, I had a Super 8 camera with me as much as I could. We ended up with so much footage that the edit basically became an excuse to cram in every moment we loved, which is probably why it feels so upbeat and a little too fast at times. I was just trying to match the feeling and brightness of the song. With an animation studio set up in Seattle, we also added some hand-drawn watercolor animation to the bridge and chorus with my friend and fellow animator, Britta Johnson. I can’t believe it’s been 15 years, time for a new montage?’
Can anyone name that song?? 👀

Hard to believe it’s been a whole year since the solo tour. Were you there?
From covering Elliott’s whole personality in 2002 to covering Angel in the Snow in 2025, we made it chat.
So happy to have this track out in the world today as a part of the soundtrack for Michael Showalter’s new film “Oh. What. Fun.” Listen at the link in bio 🎄❄️
