The Newest Sound is a hip-hop and jazz collective featuring some members of Tucson’s own Street Blues Family. Featuring ReyMurf (vox), Roch Mirabeau (vox/beats), Ryan Wheless (saxophone + FX), Desmond New (drums), and Patrick Morris (bass), and Alassane Diarra (keys) the group blends live improvisation with groove-driven beats in a style informed by the hip-hop/jazz lineage of artists like Robert Glasper.

“Thunder” is the debut release by bass supergroup S.M.V., consisting of bassists Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller and Victor Wooten. This Thursday at the Century Room we revisit the music from “Thunder” with our own supergroup, Grown Folks featuring bassists Josh Sailor, Pat Morris & Adam Neely! It will be supremely funky.
