Friends, Family, Superheroes & a whole lot of guitars at @julianfamilyfiddlecamp . We enjoyed fantastic weather & gorgeous SoCal mountain scenery. Student participation was over-the-top. Congrats to all who participated in open mic, bluegrass karaoke, class presentations & evening jam sessions!
I had a wonderful time working with the guitar class & getting to perform & hang with some of my favorite musicians & people in my ancestral neck of the woods. Thank you, Roscoe, @californiabluegrass & all the volunteers & sponsors for keeping this tradition thriving.

If you want to play Bluegrass, you should listen to Bluegrass, especially the first generation artists. Learn the melodies to the songs & be prepared to kick them off. Here is a run-thru of “Walk Softly On This Heart Of Mine” by Bill Monroe.
My online Playalong Jams are a great resource to practice this, but there is no substitute for actual familiarization with the music, which exists on a plethora of original recordings by the original artists.

Our Grant Farm TG50 reunion shows are just a couple weeks away! This is our big chance to revisit the music that we put so much of our lives into, & your big chance to be part of it.
It’s been four years since we last reunited, and these are the only shows in the foreseeable future.
