If you were a bear spy, would you be one of these two? In every game we make, there are always a few pieces of art that I love so much. These are my faves from Honeypot, designed by Joseph Z. Chen and illustrated by Kwanchai Moriya.

REVIEW: Forage by @flatoutgames Forage is a roll and write that sees you exploring a forest, gathering leaves berries and mushrooms and turning these into gifts or adding them to your pantry. The heart of the game comes from choosing dice which can be placed on certain cards depending on how they're grouped together. You then mark off sections and careful placement means you can chain actions together. You have access to time which csn be used to take extra dice actions each turn, or to purchase powerful journey tiles. You play over 13 rounds and whoever gets the most points wins. Thoughts 🍄The game is incredibly replayable because the cards you take will differ each game. You have so many variable elements from journey tiles, objectives, starting cards and randomly drawn extra cards. 🍄You have three routes to take within the cards, you can specialise somewhat or try to balance across all three - either way you have a lot of agency. 🍄The action chaining is so good. Its so satisfying chaining actions across cards multiple times, completing cards, gaining time allowing you to take more actions and chaining even more! 🍄Some minor rulebook annoyances - some symbols not easily found or described by once you have the rules down things feel more intuitive. 🍄The art is lovely (illustrated by Beth Sobel) it ties together the gameplay in a cosy package that feels really comforting to play. 🍄My only real negative with the gameplay is that the gift cards felt a lot less satisfying to play with. They have the benefit of betting able to use dice from anywhere, and do give end game scoring but they don't chain much with other cards. 🍄It doesn't have too much player interaction - only objective scoring (first to complete them gets more points), and journey tiles purchasing (once purchased they're removed at the end of that round. Overall, I really enjoyed Forage, it sits very much as a medium weight roll and write, it has a good amount of complexity, but not too much to be daunting. I love a good roll and write, where careful planning and chaining pays off, and Forage has everything I look for. I will be purchasing this as soon as I can!

🇬🇧🍄‍🟫🎲 'Forage' is an interesting roll & write game in which, over 13 rounds, we slowly expand our play area by gaining different types of cards: pantry, gift-giving and exploration. We aim to complete these cards but also to achieve various goals – from a shared pool as well as from completed cards. 🍄‍🟫 The rules are very simple: at the start of each round, we roll dice and group them by the same type, while single symbols are set aside separately. We play simultaneously and each player chooses either a group of dice of the same type plus the black die (placed in the middle of a card in the shared play area) or a group of different dice together with that middle die. Depending on the chosen group, the symbols on the dice can be used to perform actions on a specific type of card. 🍄‍🟫 On pantry cards, we mark colored jars in a number equal to the dice with the same background color. When we complete rows or columns, we gain bonuses that help us later, for example hourglasses that can be spent to modify actions or to mark something on another type of card. 🍄‍🟫 On gift-giving cards, there are spaces in different colors that we mark if we collect the required number of dice of a chosen color, a mix of colors, or sometimes dice with a specific symbol instead of a background. Completing these cards also gives various bonuses for that type of card. 🍄‍🟫 Exploration cards can only be marked when we use different dice. Then we cross off the correct symbols and create paths between them, and we gain bonuses by surrounding them with these paths. ⬇️CONTINUED IN THE COMMENT ⬇️ 🤝 Many thanks to @flatoutgames for the opportunity to test this title. If it caught your interest, the late pledge campaign for this game is currently live on Kickstarter @kickstarter (together with the game 'Honeypot', which I wrote about some time ago). #forage #forageboardgame #rollandwritegame #rollandwrite #setcollectiongame

REVIEW: Honeypot by @flatoutgames Honeypot is a light bluffing based "I stack, you choose" game that sees you take the role of secret agent bears gathering clues. You want to be the best spies and avoid getting stung (the puns are strong in this game!) Gameplay sees you arranging cards in your secret cache which you'll pass to an opponent. Then will then flip 2 cards and decide whether to keep these or discard to flip the next two. Kept cards go into your tableau and have different scoring mechanisms. Some set collection, pairings, based on neighbor tableau and even some negative points. At the end of 5 rounds the player with the most points wins. Thoughts: 🍯This really surprised me, both at a multiplayer level and solo. It's quick, easy to comprehend and very replayable. 🍯I absolutely loved setting up the order of the cache for your opponents, trying to get into their heads to make them pick specific pairings of cards. Do you put better cards at the end, or maybe make slightly attractive offerings and have bad cards in the final two to try to entice them on further. The bluffing is really fun but not too intense. 🍯The swiping mechanism for taking additional cards can be really powerful, though can also be risky which I liked. 🍯It works really well multiplayer, you'll rotate the person you hand cards to each round in multiplayer, and you have a bot opponent in solo. 🍯The player with the most negative points gets a bonus card to potentially help them catch up. These may be additional swipe tokens or ability to draw extra cards (not always a positive!!) 🍯It's a bit luck based depending on what cards are drawn to offer you but you can swipe from others caches if there are still cards on offer so its not overtly impactful. Overall I loved Honeypot, it's light and quick to play. It's not super intense and works well as a filler. This is a filler I would definitely reach for often! I will absolutely be purchasing this for my collection when it's available!

🌱 Forage Review🌱 👥 1-6 Players | 🕰 15–30 Minutes | ⚖️ Medium Light Weight Published by @flatoutgames Overview Forage turns your tabletop into a hiking, berry-picking, gift-giving adventure! Roll dice, sort them into your hiking map, pantry cards, or gift cards, and claim bonuses along the way. After 13 rounds, tally points from icons, cards, and journey tiles. The player with the most points wins! Great The artwork by Beth Sobel is absolutely adorable. It makes every game feel like a cozy storybook hike. And with all the dice placement choices, bonuses, and journey tiles, the game is surprisingly deep and replayable. Good High-quality cards and markers make everything smooth, and the variety of decisions each turn keeps your brain engaged. Do you chase quick bonuses, or plan long-term for bigger scoring? Keep in Mind This is a small box but a meaty game. There’s a lot going on, so first-time players might need guidance to avoid missing steps, especially before scoring. Final Thoughts I wasn’t expecting a roll-and-write to feel so crunchy and strategic, but Forage delivered. Cozy, thinky, and charming, this one’s a must-play! Thanks to @flatoutgames for providing a prototype review copy of Forage. As always, all thoughts and opinions are our own. #ForageBoardGame #RollAndWriteGames #BoardGameReviews #CozyBoardGames #TabletopGaming

🍯 Honeypot 🍯 Honeypot is designed by Joseph Z. Chen, and illustrated by Kwanchai Moriya, it's published by @flatoutgames , who helped sponsor our instructional video, which you can find on YouTube! This game is coming to Kickstarter TOMORROW! (February 17, 2026) In Honeypot, you’ll take on the role of secret agent bears trying to gather the best intel and spy supplies without being stung. This game is a I Stack, You Choose set collection game, which is played over five rounds. Each round you’ll receive six cards, which you will take a look at and stack strategically in your cache folder. Everyone will then simultaneously pass their folder following the direction for that round, and then reveal two cards choosing to keep them OR discard them and draw two new ones. Unchosen cards may then be swiped by others. After the five rounds, cards you’ve collected will determine your final score! This game truly feels like it should have existed for ages, the simplicity in gameplay paired with the big moments the game provides is just a honeypot of joy! It's been so fun to fool others and get exactly what you need in your mission, and HOW CAN YOU NOT love the art in this game? Question of the Day: How would you disguise yourself? What would your go-to disguise be? #boardgames #honeypot #honeypotgame #flatoutgamesmes #TabletopGames
