A couple of months ago I had the honor to direct a music video for my amazing friend Julia. This album has such an incredible and personal story, and when I heard the song, it almost immediately clicked with me as to how I wanted tell this part of it. This project all started in a cafe in Santa Monica and ended on a text across two coasts. I am so excited for you all to see it this weekend.
A huge thank you to the crew of this project. Because of distance, we did most of our pre-production work remotely! Thanks to Meena who I met through this production, who not only was so responsible and on top of things, but also brought so many wonderful people on set. Thanks to Matt and Shannon who added this project to their already busy schedule and worked with me closely to make this project the best it can be. Thanks to Jackie, Isabel, Hunter, and Joce for understanding my vision so well and executing it perfectly. And there are so many more people that I will like to give my biggest thanks to as we could not have done this without you. Thank you all so much for being a part of this with me.

And that’s a wrap! It’s been amazing to see the attention 不必捨棄自己 is already getting after its release last night. Thank you so much to Joanna, Lucas, and Jarvis for giving me the opportunity to direct Lucas’s debut music video during my home visit to Taiwan. It was an incredible learning experience especially for having to direct in 中文 for the first time! Also a huge thank you to the most hardworking crew, Tyler & Tyler. Can’t wait to see what’s next for you all and I can’t wait to work with you guys again.

On the CA-41 highway, there is a 24-hour tire repair shop owned by Rudy. The shop is on the edge of Kettleman city, far away from any major city.
We found Rudy after blowing a tire on the highway during our drive back to LA. We were parked in a tiny rural town with a deflated spare when we realized most repair shops are closed on Sundays. Frantically trying to get home before Monday, we found Rudy’s 24-hour tire shop.
We rode in a triple-A tow truck and talked to our driver the whole time. He loves poetry and songwriting and playing his guitar. He’s a deadhead, true hippie, and current dad. The 40 minutes passed by fast. We then got off the truck at the only illuminated part of the road, a secluded car shop with a radio playing in the background. While looking for Rudy, we met 2 cats. As we followed them, we found 10 gathered on a shelf of car parts. Brycen and I exclaimed, “there’s so many of them…” Like we were synced up. This happened multiple times during the trip.
Rudy was alone at his shop. He quickly got to work and the tire was good in no time. He said this could get us to LA and we trusted him with our whole life. The triple-A driver didn’t even know this place existed. Rudy’s tire repair was simply a magical sanctuary helping any weary traveler in need, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
It’s easy to live in a world where apathy and cynicism prevail. It could be seen as the only way to get through life in a society that is slowly killing itself. But when it comes down to getting stuck in a place you’ve never been before, only relying on friends and strangers to help, you start remembering that humanity is still worth fighting for. There are people like Rudy living in a country that most people think aren’t worth saving. While it is easy to be reminded of the pure evil of people in power, they’re called the 1% for a reason. Remember that there are so many good people out there for us to meet and welcome into our lives. That’s what we’re fighting for.

I love this design so muchhh. While this was a SUPER casual costume to put together, making the mask and styling the wig were both challenges I knew I was ready to take on. I ended up being really proud of this wig and am SO glad the mask situation worked out at the end (it does, in fact, lights up!)

Twice is my favorite K-pop group. This is my 4th Twice concert. I feel like every concert since my first one - which I experienced at the very back of THIS Kia forum - has been experienced by a slightly different version of myself. Twice has existed as a group for a little over 10 years now, and as fans, it’s amazing watching their story of continuous growth and everlasting friendship, reflected deeply in their music. In a lot of ways, I felt like I grew into a more true version of myself with them.
I got into Twice at one of the loneliest times of my life. These concerts mean so much to be not only because I LOVE watching them perform, but it means even more to me to enjoy one of my favorite things with some of my favorite people. This group represents the importance of having people with you in your journey through life, and I’m so glad to have supportive people around me, just like my favorite girls.
