Big news! This summer we’ll join @hollandopera in their new opera: FEEST We’re very happy to share this with you🤩 Concerts will take place 5 times a week, from the 10th of September till the 4th of October. This is the stuff, this is why I do what I do. Yesterday was the best. My “Echoes” release concert couldn’t have been more perfect. Incredibly thankful for the full house of people that showed up with curious and open ears and of course the absolutely incredible @flarequartet who never ceased to amaze me. Unto many more adventures! My newest album is now out on stores! You can purchase a very limited edition CD on my Bandcamp page, or stream it to your heart’s desire on many streaming platforms. May 14th: Album release concert! On May 14th my next album "Echoes" will go live with a release concert performed by the amazing @flarequartet , who will also play pieces by Alberga and Darvishi to complement my quartet, which headlines my upcoming album. Register for the concert on semhak.com/echoes. Registering ensures you'll receive information about the concert and helps us keep track of the expected attendance. The concert is accessible on a pay-what-you-can basis. You are invited to contribute an amount according to your choosing and financial ability. Special thanks to @demuzenveenendaal for facilitating the recording location for the album! When: May 14th 2026, 20:00 (doors open 19:30) Where: Former penitentiary Wolvenplein "De Vrije Wolf" (Wolvenplein 25-27, Utrecht) ------------------------------------------ My String Quartet no. 1 was written all the way back in 2016, so when the Flare Quartet requested to include the piece in their repertoire some 10 years later I was surprised: as a young composer you don't expect a piece you wrote that long ago to ever be picked up again. The piece revolves around grief and its different stages, and revisiting the piece was a process of healing. Now we have recorded the piece, and together with "Distant Light", a choral work on a poem by @eleabekkers I wrote similarly long ago in 2017, it's ready to go out into the world in 2026, like an echo from bygone, yet eerily similar times. Flare Quartet beantwoordt eeuwige vragen Op maandag 2 februari treedt het Flare Quartet met een bijzonder programma op in de SEM concertserie in Museum Voorlinden. Arcadiana van Adès draait om het idee van een ‘elders’, een ‘hier’ wat niet meer is. In het stuk Daughters of Sol van Aftab Darvishi, een jonge componiste geboren in Teheran, wordt de cyclus van het leven onderzocht, de evolutie tussen schaduw en licht. Sjostakovitsj schreef zijn derde strijkkwartet net voordat de extreme censuur op de kunsten begon de Sovjet-Unie. Als titel voor het laatste deel gaf hij mee: 'De eeuwige vraag: waarom? Some beautiful recollections of our performance with @skanderjaibi @flarequartet and @aliciaochiqui at @le_guess_who festival 2025 Who has the right to closure? was a moving and powerful piece, which came to life through my friendship and collaboration with Skander. From volunteering at Uncloud to sharing the stage at LeGuessWho, I am immensely grateful realising how far community can go, and how precious the people I meet along the way are to me.
