Summer of Scum February 18:
The Pee Pee Poo Poo Man (2024)
A strange man begins subjecting Torontonians to toilet-based attacks.
Sure it's crass, but so is life under the thumb of a techno-capitalist cityscape.
This is the last installment for Summer of Scum for this year before we retreat to collect some more nonsense to subject the masses to.
Come through from 7, movie begins around 7:30
Summer of Scum Feb 11:
Repo Man (1984)
The cult classic, the one everyone's cool uncle thought rocked, the one people claim to be Tony Hawk's favorite.
Little introduction needed for this supremely 1980s alien-fuelled piece of nonsense.
Dinner available as always. Come through from 7, movie begins 7:30
Summer of Scum February 4th:
Burst City (1982)
Imagine if you will the expansion of toxic factories that can only be stopped by The Stalin. Movies return Wednesday night with a fish-eye-heavy, somewhat lysergic trip through the early 80s punk scene in Japan.
As always, cheap dinner will be on offer, all proceeds going back to Spit
Summer of Scum January 21:
Rodrigo D: No Futuro (Columbia 1990)
Escapist car theft occurs against a backdrop of 1980s punk in Medellin. A harsh and stunning depiction of idleness, uncertainty and connection in the face of crime and poverty.
Vegan japchae for dinner on a sliding scale.
Summer of Scum January 14th:
Twisted Issues (US 1988)
Much like a chaotic house show, members of the living dead lurk on skateboards in the wings waiting to wreak havoc. A document of the early thrash scene in Gainesville complete with a God-like figure and a unique approach to vegetable preparation, Twisted Issues is the movie everyone thinks they could make but only few could.
Serving up black bean tacos and salad on a sliding scale.
Come through from 7 tomorrow, movie begins at some point after 7:30.
Summer of Scum January 7th:
A Bullet in the Arse (Australia, 2003)
IMDB bills it as an homage to Sergio Leone, people on Letterboxd complain they can't find anywhere to watch it. Be that as it may, we've got the DVD and the will to subjet you to a movie that was once made.
There's a lot of gunshots, plenty of characters, and around ten lines of dialogue. One would be a fool to miss it.
Serving up vegan vermicelli salad to cool everyone down.
Come through from 7 tomorrow, pressing play at 7:30.
One more before the big worm of time devours 2025!
