I wrote a short called Into the Sun while working in Nashville last year. Then directed and shot it with Bron & Dora along with a few friends and family in Austin & San Antonio in November- a super small tight crew, a lot of heart, with one goal.. just be creative together- for us. No pressure, no deadlines, no plan.. just to actually stop talking about doing it, and do it.
It was pretty nuts - No producer, no money, no real AD’s, no location dept.. a borrowed camera and some tacos (thanks Mara) …just us- going for it. We all spend our time building worlds for other people. This was a chance to build one of our own.
Now it’s in its final stages with Aidan (post sound), Cali (Composer), and Stephen (editor), who’ve each contributed to that collective heart.
Can’t wait to have you on the journey with us soon :)
Oscar’s/BAFTAs 2026. What a journey. 🥹🥰 It was so much fun hearing from friends and family who have supported me for so long. You guys carried me here. I’m honestly at a loss for words again. Being nominated for an Oscar alongside the absolute GOAT, @hannahbeachler Hannah Beachler, is surreal. Her work has shaped how I see this craft. She’s the definition of true grit, she’s a creative mastermind. Standing anywhere near her in this moment feels like a gift from another realm.
This film changed me. It cracked something open and stitched something wholly new together. And somehow this moment feels cosmically connected to everything beautiful happening in my life right now, like all the threads were always certain they were gonna meet here. 💖💞💖✨💫✨
Every long day, every doubt, every ounce of work I poured in. The most incredible team I could ever ask for. The friends who believed in me before there was anything to point to. My family, who have supported me my entire life, even when the path seemed to make no sense.
I feel so deeply grateful. So humbled. So aware that none of this happens alone.
Thank you for seeing Sinners. Thank you for believing in it.

When I got the script for Nickel Boys, I was immediately determined and committed to putting my entire heart into it. Having been deeply moved by RaMell Ross’s work on “Hale County This Morning, This Evening” I recognized in him an artist who transforms moving pictures into poetry and truth.
Additionally, it was an honor to stand beside creative powerhouse and production designer Nora Mendis @noralux on this journey. I couldn’t be more humbled that I was even given the chance to do so. There were also so many people on our set dec team that made it all happen- Jessica Taylor, Maria Senger, Scotty Morris, Denaux, Charlotte Jones, Christy Beshears.. don’t know all their IG names - but the list goes on.
Im so proud of what we accomplished on Nickel Boys. I hope you all find as much meaning in it as we did creating it.
