Bear with me (BIG announcement below) • “Eat a bag of cherries 🍒 Make as big a mess as possible eating, smashing, spitting cherries and pits…We want cherry juice everywhere.” 🍒 You got it! (Paraphrasing @jakub_blank ‘s directions) Here’s one of my favorite bts photos from filming day. I can’t tell you how excited I am about this collection of songs. We’ve got top tier production, top notch tunes, all incoming. Right now, today, we are announcing SEPTEMBER 4TH as the day that we release “Faces On The Wall” in its entirety. Stay tuned and standby as we make plans around the 4th…yeehaw!!! Our first release since 2017 will deliver in a big way for our community and it’ll make you feel like we never left at all.
Break the sky LIVE (piano). All these years later and this song still resonates with so many of us. You can call me “Two Take Drake” because I got it on the second go around. No AI, no autotune, no tricks…just the song in the raw. I hope you all enjoy this look back on a song that’s stuck around through thick and thin. Much love to my people.
Back in my 20’s I did this artist spotlight with the MusicBed. I recently went back and watched this and it triggered deep thoughts on how much we change as the years go by, as we grow. I see this video and I see a young version of myself who was good intentioned, who was focused, who was on the right track, who was still working out existential points of view. I also see a version of myself that set me up to become the man that I am now. I see a young man who is sure of himself, maybe too sure, but I am proud of the insight I had at that age. This video was captured at a crossroads in my life as I was entering a very successful period of my career. At that time I had no idea that it could and would all collapse and go away. At that time I could have never imagined that I’d have to start back at the beginning again, more than once. Those things did end up happening. I lived my dreams. I saw my dreams come true and I saw them fade faster than I could process it. The fact is that this has all lead me here to the now of things. Though I have lived and lost, I know now what I didn’t know then, that failure is not permanent, and neither is success. My joy does not come from the people around me, but from the divine light within me which I tend like a garden and protect fiercely. My joy comes from my relationship with the divine within and without all things. I’m proud of the young man that I was in this spotlight video, but I am grateful to have gone through the great trials and tribulations that befell me after that moment, and to have come out the other side as a good man, a wise man, a steady and dependable man. This life is a wild ride filled with ups and downs that can take your breath away, and it can break you if you let it. I don’t look back too often, but I found some joy and peace in reflecting on this video.

“CILAN 2.0” is out now!!! Stream on all platforms. ”CILAN,” which was originally written for the women freedom fighters of Palestine, has become more of an all encompassing freedom song for all of the women who feel the oppressive hand of patriarchy trying to push them backwards to a time when they had less freedoms and less agency over their bodies and lives.
It’s an important song to me.
It contains strong language because sometimes strong language is necessary to communicate strong ideals.

Before “Flagship” there was “Flagship Brigade!” My brother Dallas showed me that he had these pictures saved from an important show that we played at a sold out “Tremont Music Hall” CLT, NC in 2008. This show was powerful and everyone in the audience was a friend and the energy was like nothing I had ever felt until that moment. We played loud and with an urgency that had everyone, including us, overwhelmed with electric energy…or that’s how I remember it. A powerful atmosphere that felt like what church was meant to be. I had a photo of the crowd going wild but it didn’t survive. I will always remember this show and I’m so glad that I have the photo evidence again. Core memory to the max! Thank you to everyone tagged in this for being a part of this moment in my life. @erichurtgen can be seen in the crowd, with his wonderful wife @wellshurtgen in the second photo, who was and to this day is still my album artwork designer. My old friends @tayslurp , @its_santell , @itszachford , @charisjordan and too many others to name can be seen in these photos. Great stuff! Comment if you see yourself in the crowd photo or if you were at this show. Much love
NEW MUSIC! I am so thrilled and proud to introduce you all to BlackBush Records’ newest artist “Pale Catherine” @palecatherinemusic whose first self-titled EP is out today. She is a true artist to the core and has an inherent spark of something special, something not all singers possess. She is able to express a myriad of emotions with the inflection of her voice. You’ll hear her subtle but powerful manipulation of notes to attach intention to each and every word. Please do not pass this music by. I know you’ll love it. And lastly, please show her love on social media…follow, like, comment, and share. Let’s make this a great release week. We need YOU! Much love x

It’s my birthday today, and to celebrate my 39th year I’ve released this new single entitled “The Real American Way.” This song is meant to hold up a mirror to our American society and ask the question; “Is this who we want to be?”
It navigates our social norms and puts our values to the test. I sincerely hope you enjoy it. Much love!
