In cities, one must dig through layers of human fabrication—concrete, asphalt, and debris—to reach the earth beneath. Peeling back these surfaces reveals urban soils, often hidden just inches below concrete, disconnected from the flow and movements of nature. Soil serves, among many other functions, as a powerful medium to neutralize our body's electromagnetic field. Through my work and action research, I aim to cultivate and restore this vital connection with the land. Fieldwork: Learning from soil scientists to “read” and interpret soils. New York Latin American Art Triennial 2025 SENSORIAL FUSION Relationship Art and Architecture BEYOND THE ARTIFACT: Do we call it architecture or a system of contingencies? Curator Oscar M Caballero The work exists as a “fragile ontology”: rocks, eggs, lizards, plexiglass mirror the fragility of mental boundaries. To engage with it is to trace how space metabolizes meaning—how it encodes histories (geologic, biologic,cultural) and reconfigures the spatial-psychological negotiation. If architecture is a system of spatial consequence, how does it construct—or destabilize—the mind that perceives it? Mind & Architecture shape one another. The built environment influences us—physically and psychologically—while our mental states inflect how we perceive and inhabit space.
