Flann Manning is a visual artist and filmmaker based in Dublin. In early 2025, Flann travelled around Japan for a month, staying in the hustle & bustle of Osaka, Hiroshima and Tokyo, and the quiet solitude of Matsue, Miyajima Island and the Izu Peninsula, taking photos on each leg of the journey with point & shoot and a spinning lens panoramic film camera. When looking at the entire developed collection, his photos capture the harmony of cutting edge modernity and ancient tradition, blending the sacred with the everyday, daily commute and pilgrimage on the same streets.
Flann and his work is coming to Nine this Saturday, so make sure you pop in and check his work out.

Had resigned to the fact I lost all my 35mm summer photos last year. Always test developer before using, hard lesson learned... This roll thankfully didn't get wiped in that batch.

Capturing looping movements and patterns in nature on a fujifilm rensha cardia byu-n 8. It has 8 lenses that fire in series. It's a great 1-3 second gif making film camera. Originally intended to capture ones golf swing/run cycle, the film would then be sent off to an expert, analyzed and given back results in a now long defunkt service.
