Congratulations to UMass Amherst professors Juana Valdés and Stephen Platt for being named 2026 Guggenheim Fellows! Stephen is also an active instructor in the Five College Center for East Asian Studies, educating K-12 teachers on East Asia.

On Monday, Smith College hosted the Five College Reception for Faculty and Staff of Color and Allies. Some 70 people from all five campuses came to catch up with friends and colleagues and make new connections.

We at Five Colleges recently celebrated the launch of a website that gives students, researchers, and art lovers around the world access to over 100,000 objects from the shared collections, while also helping museums track and share their collections.

On March 2, new faculty members from the five campuses were introduced to the Consortium and each other at the Five College New Faculty Reception at the Hampshire College Red Barn.
🌏 Hosted by Mount Holyoke College's Chinese Program, Inside the Moso World will be presented this Friday! Listen and learn from Jason Ou's talk about the unique matrilineal Moso culture and enjoy refreshments, trivia, and even a Mosuo dance lesson.

✒️ The East Asian Language and Culture programs at UMass and Five Colleges present the Korean Calligraphy Showcase this Wednesday! Honor the written beauty of Hangeul through Five College community members' submissions based around a theme of language, expression, and freedom.
🇰🇷 This event will take place in UMass's Herter Hall room 301 from 3-5pm, and is free and open to Five College students and staff. Don't miss it!
