FMR Furniture
We design and fabricate furniture using local waste streams from our Brisbane workshop. Each piece is built to last and made in-house using materials such as salvaged concrete and reclaimed timber. Our range includes stools, tables, benches and planters, all of which can be tailored to suit your layout, finish and functional needs.
The approach is low-carbon, technically robust and grounded in a deep understanding of material behaviour.

We design architecture and interiors with a strong focus on material efficiency, low-carbon systems and design that responds to place. Our work spans commercial fit-outs, large venues and eco-tourism projects for clients who value thoughtful design and practical delivery.
Most of our projects are commercial or public-facing and include adaptive reuse, fit-outs and new builds. Each one aims to minimise waste, make use of available materials and reflect its setting. Our projects have received multiple awards from the Australian Institute of Architects, including recognition for Matso’s Brewery on the Sunshine Coast.
While Five Mile Radius is not a licensed builder, we frequently fabricate and install custom furniture and fit-out elements from our workshop in Brisbane. This allows us to streamline procurement, maintain quality and manage costs effectively.

We offer specialist material consulting for architecture and development projects. Our team partners with architects, developers, contractors and councils to integrate reclaimed materials, reduce construction waste and embed circular thinking into real-world delivery.
Our services include site material audits, early-phase strategy, advice on appropriate material selection, detailing for disassembly and future reuse, and documentation to support storytelling and project reporting. We combine technical insight with hands-on fabrication experience to ensure proposals are practical and buildable.
Whether engaged as a lead consultant or part of a wider team, we help deliver outcomes that prioritise material efficiency, local relevance and long-term performance.

Reasons we love our endemic hoop pine ⚡️⚡️⚡️
– FSC-certified, so the forests it comes from are actually sustainably managed
– sourced through a local supplier (hi @finlaysonstimber ), so we can properly understand its supply chain
– relatively economical, which matters when you’re making things at scale
– lightweight, buttery soft on the tools, and honestly just nice to work with
– and our fave… its a true Queensland native, endemic to this place
Back in stock and exclusive to Mud Australia stores, our terrazzo trivets are crafted by @five_mile_radius with the same thoughtful approach as our porcelain.
We revisit our conversation with founder Clare Kennedy, exploring her design process, inspirations, and favourite Mud pieces.

@lendlease 's workplace at 25 King St feels warm and calm; a space that immediately puts people at ease. That’s no accident. It comes from the cultural foundation Elders and Blaklash helped shape with Lendlease from the very beginning.
The team built the workplace around a deep understanding of the precinct’s stories and its long history of gathering and connection. Those insights guided the design and shaped the atmosphere, flow and material character of the space.

2025 was a fast and intense year, marked by what we think was our some of our best and funnest work to date. At times it felt hectic and well beyond our comfort zones, but more often than not we came together to create spaces and furniture we’re incredibly proud of.
Thank you to our beautiful customers and clients. Your support for local and circular design never ceases to amaze us.
2026 is looking busy right out of the gate, with a cafe in Paddington, a house in Highvale, and public projects on the Gold Coast keeping our design team busy. On the furniture side, we have some exciting collaborations with Blaklash, a large public commission at the international airport, and some major additions and refinements to our range.
For now, the team is taking a well earned break.
We’ll be back on January 12. Happy New Year mates ✨
