🏁 Tomas de Vargas Machuca’s Solo Peking to Paris Achievement Officially Recognised as World Record
🌍 The remarkable solo endurance achievement of adventurer Tomas de Vargas Machuca on the 2025 Peking to Paris Motor Challenge, a FIVA registered event, has now been officially recognised as a world record.
🏆 Following a detailed submission supported by extensive documentation, the International Acceptance Committee of Official World Record Europe (OWR) confirmed that his accomplishment had been verified and approved, granting him the official record title: “The First Person to Drive Solo from Beijing to Paris in a Pre-War Car.”
🚗💨 For those who do not know him, Tomas de Vargas Machuca is the Chairman of long time FIVA partner HERO-ERA. Driving a 1926 Bentley 3-4½ Litre, de Vargas Machuca completed the 37-day endurance rally entirely on his own, covering 14,899 kilometres across 12 countries on one of the world’s most demanding historic motoring events.
The achievement was not only a test of driving endurance but also one of resilience and survival. Remarkably, despite undertaking the entire journey alone, de Vargas Machuca also finished 14th overall in the rally standings, an impressive result given the scale and difficulty of the challenge. 👏
For the record-breaker, the adventure did not truly end at the official finish in Paris. Inspired by the traditions of early motoring pioneers who drove their cars to and from events, he continued the journey beyond the rally’s conclusion, driving the Bentley from Paris to London and onward to the HERO-ERA headquarters at Bicester Motion. “Someone told me that in the old days competitors used to drive to an event and that you only really finished if you drove back home,” he explained. “So I drove the Bentley home to London and then on to Bicester Motion to complete the task.” 🇫🇷 🇬🇧

En un momento donde el automóvil clásico ha alcanzado probablemente su máxima expresión, la labor de quienes conservan, restauran y mantienen estos coches es sencillamente incalculable. AUTOPÍA nace también para eso: crear un lugar de disfrute, pero sobre todo de reconocimiento.
Junto a la @feva_1993 hemos apoyado el reglamento de vehículos históricos, contribuyendo a que España supere ya los 175.000 vehículos históricos registrados.
Además, AUTOPÍA forma parte oficialmente del calendario de la @fiva_classics , cuyo comisario Emmanuel Bacquet destacó en nuestra quinta edición la diversidad de coches y el ambiente único creado por aficionados de todas las edades.
Durante el evento se entregaron el premio FIVA al vehículo mejor conservado al Hispano Alemán Vizcaya de 1971 y el FIVA Spirit a un Opel Rekord C Coupé de 1968. Un reconocimiento que se suma al nombramiento de AUTOPÍA como FIVA Premier Event, impulsando nuestra proyección internacional.
Este año hemos recibido participantes de Alemania, Portugal, Inglaterra y Marruecos, además de visitantes de Italia y Bulgaria. Puede parecer solo el comienzo, pero para nosotros significa mucho: queremos que AUTOPÍA no solo sea el evento más especial de España, sino un encuentro imprescindible para aficionados de toda Europa.

Je n’ai toujours pas de mots pour décrire l’édition 2026 du Morocco Rallye Classic - Mille Oasis. 🌴
Je redescends tout juste de mon nuage après avoir terminé la 8ème édition du Morocco Rallye Classic - Mille Oasis. Quel parcours de dingue à travers les plus beaux paysages du Maroc ! ✨
On a commencé en beauté à Agadir/Taghazout avant de remonter la côte par Essaouira et Oualidia jusqu’à El Jadida. Les vues sur l’Atlantique étaient juste incroyables ! 🌊
Ensuite, direction les terres ! 🏜️ Traverser El Brouj, s’émerveiller devant les eaux de Bin El-Ouidane, puis passer par Azilal et Demnate... Chaque étape était un nouveau défi et une nouvelle claque visuelle.
L’arrivée à Marrakech était le point final parfait pour cette aventure humaine et mécanique. Plus de 1000 km de pur bonheur au volant, entouré de passionnés.
Un immense merci à l’organisation pour ce tracé exceptionnel ! 🙏

🏁 Rally for the Ages Returns in 2026 to Inspire the Next Generation of Historic Rally Competitors
🚗 Long time FIVA Partner HERO-ERA announced the fourth edition of the Rally for the Ages, a youth-focused historic rally and FIVA registered event designed to introduce young people and families to the world of historic motoring.
📅 Scheduled to take place on 11 July 2026, the event will start and finish in Hardwick, near Bicester, continuing the now well-established tradition of providing an accessible and welcoming first step into rally competition.
👥 Since its launch in 2023, Rally for the Ages has become widely known for its unique “For the Young for Free” concept, which allows crews with a combined age under 70 to receive a full refund of their entry fee.
The initiative has proved highly successful in attracting younger participants, with organisers expecting another strong turnout following the 2025 edition in which 30 percent of competitors were teenagers.
Among them were three navigators aged just twelve, including the youngest winning navigator in the event’s history.
🎯 The rally’s format is deliberately designed to help beginners gain confidence while still offering a genuine competitive challenge.
🗣️ HERO-ERA Head of Competition James Phillips emphasised the importance of Rally for the Ages within the organisation’s calendar and its broader mission to bring younger generations into historic motoring.
🌟 As preparations begin for the 2026 edition, the event continues to demonstrate how heritage motoring can inspire a new generation to discover the thrill and tradition of rally competition.
