I can’t even remember what near 40 degree heat feels like now though as winter is definitely coming in the UK 😭 So best I share this one sooner rather than later.

This year has been probably the most challenging of my life with some of my darkest days yet also with new life and brighter days to come, happy Father’s Day to me ! ❤️
Having a life changing operation to remove a cancer (fully confirmed post op) whilst knowing Sophia was pregnant wasn’t a position I imagined to be. I’ll be forever thankful for the Dubai healthcare system for identifying it early and swift treatment , alhamdulillah🙏🏼
But all we can do is make a choice to make each day better than the last. I’ve always been a driven person but since the op I’ve only grown even stronger in my mindset and commitment to work as hard as I can in all areas of my life.
My health is nearly back to normal, I’m in a loving relationship with a baby girl on the way, and business has never been better, despite the challenges thrown at us the last few months.
Grateful for everyday and everyone I get to share it with 🙏🏼
Day in the life of a fitness brand photographer… 📸💪🏼
Well, a couple of days!!
For me shoot prep always starts the day before regardless of if it’s an early start or not!
Having the camera ready with a full battery and a formatted card in (as well as some ballpark camera settings) enables me to focus on setting up quickly at the location and getting down to shooting. There’s nothing worse than scrabbling around in the morning realising something isn’t charged or you have left the card behind and for some reason all the spares are no where to be seen either! 🥴🤦🏻♂️
This may seem SO obvious, but I’ve seen many professionals do the whole “have I backed this data up?!” panic on the morning of the shoot then wasting location hire time checking their hard drives. It’s not only time lost but a huge distraction from the job you are doing that day.
Same goes for any clothing prep if you are a one man/woman band, do all can the day before and then do minor touch ups on the day, if you still can’t transport on hangers.
Finally take your laptop to the shoot and follow the brief that you have already downloaded to the desktop (don’t rely on downloading it off WiFi or hotspot, again this loses time!) , remember to tick off outfits/key shots as you go ! 📸👊🏼
If you nail the shoot and the deliverables with time to spare, don’t be afraid to experiment if you have any energy left and the models/athletes fancy it 🙌🏼🚀

One of my favourite ways to make footage look “cinematic” is to shoot from the shadow side, all in camera no effects here. Shooting at the right time of day for the desired light is always a winner 👊🏼

Rolling on from yesterday’s post about studio shoots, this was a good one from earlier on this year with the @gymking team for the Men’s Q1 23 content shoot 👊🏼
A mix of handheld and gimbal shots here on focal lengths from 25-100mm, generally framing centre and wide for 16:9 giving consideration for the 9:16 social crop. Shot in Slog3 and colour graded in Premier pro.
In all seriousness though the real talent here is @vova_rain with his magic iphone gimbal hands 🙌🏼💪🏼
