At #WFMD2024, Happy Fish joined Yakama Nation Fisheries at their Pacific lamprey release celebration!
At this event, staff released adult lamprey into the Upper Yakima River to help them reach their upper basin spawning grounds. This helps them bypass barriers and conserve energy for their spawning season. Visitors got to learn more about the ecological and cultural importance of the lamprey and even release some themselves!
