Sadly, the line I was most excited for over the past few years ended up being a major disappointment for me personally. I wanted to support a new company, but after handling these figures, I just can’t justify keeping them.
I expected limited articulation going in since I was buying more for the aesthetic and creativity of the line than dynamic posing. But the overall QA issues were far beyond what I anticipated.
Arcturus:
The hood and faceplate constantly fell off and had to be glued down. Removing the head slightly damaged the peg in the process. The waist connection pops out randomly because the ball joint doesn’t properly fit the torso socket, and the soft goods prevent it from seating deeply enough without using tack or paper as a workaround. The thigh joints are also extremely loose, causing the legs to fall off unexpectedly.
Obsidius:
This was easily one of my most anticipated figures of the year, which made the disappointment hit even harder. The wrist pegs are undersized across all hand sets, making them very loose. He can barely hold the scythe without it drooping under its own weight. The belt horns constantly fall out and really need glue to stay in place. The hips are loose, articulation is very limited, and overall posing feels restrictive outside of basic stances.
The biggest issue for me, though, is the “soft goods”. It has a crinkled plastic-like material inside the fabric that causes it to flare outward awkwardly. The wiring only runs along the sides and tips, so despite looking cool visually, it barely poses well. Getting the hood onto the head and keeping it there is frustrating because the weight just pulls it backward.
I was genuinely excited for this line, and meeting the MetaTravelers team made me want to support it even more. They were incredibly kind, passionate, and the character designs are fantastic. I truly hope they can iron out these issues and find success moving forward.
That said, I don’t see myself using these, so if anyone wants them, I’m giving them away rather than tossing them in the trash.
