We are thrilled to bring you the first glimpse of our 2D Animation Short Film, Kingara Kavyam (Poem Of The Enslaved), Written & Directed by National Award Winning Filmmaker @rahulrijinair and produced by @firstprintstudios & @carmond_infinity . The film will have its World Premiere at @animelaindia 2026.
Set against the backdrop of 17th-century Cochin, Kingara Kavyam follows Kappiri, an African and Kunjala, a local woman, as they form a tender bond amidst the harsh realities of race, oppression and caste. In their world manifested by magical realism, their quiet connection and resilience of love lives on as destiny transcend time and history.
It was a great honour for me to represent our animation film @kingarakavyam@ukasianfilmfest held at the Southbank, London. A true proud moment to see and feel the reception for our film written and directed by @rahulrijinair along with 10 other outstanding short films , making the experience even more special.
Interaction with the makers of other short films was an enriching experience , getting to understand their creative processes, especially their approaches to film and music, offered valuable new perspectives

Our ship sails to London this time! Delighted to announce that Kingara Kavyam has been selected to this year’s UK Asian Film Festival. The film screening will take place on 2nd May on BFI Southbank at 5:00 PM (BST). We welcome our friends in London to join the screening as we look forward to our International Premiere. Wishing a very Happy Vishu to all our folks! ❤️
I first met @anandtu and @wish_shack , the Founders of @carmond_infinity in Dec 2023 (Second Pic!) and the first thoughts of @kingarakavyam began to take shape. Besides their passion for animation, I was blown away by their ambition and commitment as entrepreneurs. Today they are not just my co-creators but also my brothers who have been a pillar of strength on this very difficult journey. I have learned and grown immensely as an Animation Filmmaker from their experience and today we dare to dream even bigger! And as always I had @iamlijojoseph in my corner to keep me going through thick and thin. As the lights turned on after our Premiere at Animela, it was a very gratifying journey for all four of us. I take this opportunity to thank all the wonderful folks at Carmond and my dream team @firstprintstudios , who made this film possible. The journey for Kingara Kavyam has well and truly begun and we are humbled by the warm reception and love the film received in Animela. Looking forward to many more!
This Valentine’s Day we present before you a timeless love story across centuries from Kerala! Kingara Kavyam is all set to premiere at the South Asia Competition of Animela on Feb 20, 2026.
