đđDoes citrus cure all that ails you during the darkest winter months? Some say yes, especially if turned into salted citrus shortbread. Open this weekend, where itâs always sunny inside, 10-5. â¨âď¸
We do NOT have roses this weekend, but we DO have gorgeous chicories so you can make your friends and lovers a beautiful salad. Romance!
đĽFinely chop a few anchovy fillets and add to a large bowl. Finely grate a garlic clove or two and add to the anchovies along with a good spoonful of grainy mustard. Add some nice sherry vinegar or fresh lemon juice and season with salt and pepper. Tear the leaves with your hands and add to the bowl and toss toss toss. Finish with some olive oil, more salt and pepper. Very good with a roast chicken or perhaps a steak (we have both!). âď¸đš
âď¸In the 2.5 years weâve been open weâve only closed for bad weather onceâ until tomorrow. We will be CLOSED tomorrow, Sunday the 8th, because the roads are a mess and itâs simply too cold to be outside.
Other things you can do tomorrow instead of coming to First Bloom: Make a pot of brothy beans with garlic and lemon. Reorganize your bathroom cabinets. Braise some meat with lots of vinegar and onions. Call someone you love and gab. Write a letter?! Assemble a very large baked pasta and eat most of it for dinner. Watch the Olympics (or the Super Bowl?). Take a bottle of red wine youâre not sure is good or not and turn it into mulled wine. Stay cozy and see you Wednesdayâď¸
Dear Mom and Dad,
Winter break was awesome. I got my shelves cleaned and reorganized, plus, restocked all your favorite items. Even though itâs the middle of winter, we have some nice produce, including some excellent purple sweet potatoes. We also got a new shoppable freezer full of local pork and chicken and lamb, and soon weâll have seafood. Itâs all very exciting. We reopen Wednesday 2/4 and are open 10-5. Come visit soon?
Love, First Bloom
