I don't know how many hours these elite athletes put into becoming the closest thing to gods, but I bet it's more than 10,000. You give up weekends, birthdays and holidays for years, putting your body through hell, tearing up your MCL, freezing your ass off on the side of a mountain or on an ice rink, and when you've defeated all your opponents and been proclaimed the greatest human being on the planet in your sport, they send you home with 6 measly grams of gold... plating.
