The kiln gets a bit of TLC!
A huge part of kiln operation is making sure all parts of the kiln are regularly monitored and maintained so there’s never a catastrophic event. Prevention always!
I handle all the repairs and maintenance myself, so if you ever need help with kiln maintenance, troubleshooting, or repairs feel free to reach out!

What the heck is a kiln cookie!?
A kiln cookie is a sacrificial slab of bisque-fired clay that gets a coat of kiln wash on it, and sits under your piece as a protective layer between your work and the kiln shelf.
IF your glaze drips, the cookie takes the hit instead of my precious shelves!
I keep a bunch of kiln cookies on hand for this exact reason. If you’re booking in and think something might run, just leave a little note and I’ll set it up on a cookie!

Loading truly is like a game of Tetris, with multiple variations and considerations. If you do it enough, you get really good at looking at a pile of pots and figuring out the configuration before you even start loading.
