Back in May I had the pleasure of documenting this very special wedding at a very special place. I wasn't planning on coming back to Asheville that early on in the year but I am glad I said yes to it.
This wedding had so much love and wisdom that I needed to hear and remember so I could carry it with me.

April 25, 2025 was a much anticipated date for my clients Lynn + Chris. They were originally supposed to get married on October 27, 2024 but thanks to Hurricane Helene, we had to postpone for 6 months. Thankfully we were able to transfer our entire vendor team to the new date, a small miracle for sure and although we had to make many adjustments and pivots along the way, yesterday was well worth the wait! Congrats to the newlywed’s 🌟
did I photograph a wedding the same day the hurricane hit Asheville?
yes, yes I did.
was this the craziest thing I did that weekend to show up for my clients? no, no it was not.

it was surreal to arrive to the Grove Park Inn with only generator power and most of the roads blocked in Asheville. the relief on Jack’s face when he saw us arrive was worth the entire mornings adventure. especially the laugh he let out upon finding and pulling a small tree branch stick from the shoulder of my disheveled suit jacket…. yes we climbed a down tree or two after parking off Kimberly and ascending the hill to the @omnigrovepark
the power and cell coverage outages kept us literally and information-ly in the dark. with only half the vendors able to make it out and up the hill, we put together and captured a beautifully wild and mostly improvised wedding celebration. one I know we all never forget.
incredible thanks to The Omni Grove Park Inn for putting together this celebration and somehow cooking some of the best fish I have ever had without power to the building!
