The Strangers : Chapter 3 : the Old Mill
Just a little under a year ago, I was a part of the team that re-shot The Strangers Chapter 3. It was going to be a few weeks of pickups and ended up being a whole feature (well, they kept 6mins of screen time from the other shoot in the final edit so maybe more like 96% of a feature), and one of the fantastic locations was this old and wonderful Wood Mill, out near Bowmanville. It was a muddy mess, and as it’s easy to imagine since we’re rounding the corner towards spring right now, there was a joy in the daytime warmth though the snow and icicles hadn’t all melted yet.
I had just picked up a cool Nizo Super 8 Camera and for the first time using it, I brought it to the Mill. This little video is the full mag, no edits, and admittedly a little rough. I hope you have fun watching it.. as a nostalgic person I’m enamoured with Super 8 and it’s look. Nice to harken back to the great crew and the efforts last spring.
The film is out now, in theatres for a little bit longer and if you’ve seen any of these newer ones and had fun I know you’ll like ours :) Big thanks to my stellar Prop Team on this one;
@arthurmoukhortov was on-set for all but a few days where
@darryl_fraser was able to close it out, and Ariel Hughes /
@pascal_bennett had my back behind the scenes. We were a part of an incredible Art Team lead by
@alexisdebad ,
@_davemorris_ , and
@franny_did_it and actualized by a slew of fun-loving and hard working professionals (I’ll do my best to tag you all). We worked with Mr. Cliffhanger himself, Director
@rennyharlin , who I actually met years ago when he was in town filming ‘Driven’ (again with Stallone).. Renny is a legend.
Since you’re reading this; thanks for the interest and support. It’s a real ordeal shooting Super 8 these days and it was made as easy as possible by
@niagaracustomlab and
@downtowncameraltd .. love both of those shops and literally couldn’t be my brand of creative without them ✨
