We asked
@what_graff to create the artwork for our upcoming EP. We wanted a real, hand-painted canvas. Art that portrays human emotion, which we believe AI simply can’t achieve. The lyric, “Sun shines through to the forest floor, last flower raises its head, but only once more,” was the main idea for the piece. We gave Lewis the “All We Know” single as well as full EP to listen to, and creative control over how he achieved this artwork, he opted for an acrylic paint on a 3ft x 3ft canvas.
This is what he said:
“First of all, I would like to thank FNE for putting their trust in me to deliver their vision for the EP cover, ‘All We Know.’ The title track immediately grabbed my attention with powerful and poignant lyrics that weave a political and social narrative. I sought to capture the scene of light pouring through a forest and the last flower blooming, a vivid metaphor.
I chose a Black Dahlia flower as, above all else, it symbolises change. The language of flowers has many meanings and contexts within different cultures. The Dahlia also conveys strength, betrayal, and intense, dark emotions. My interpretation of the sound represents a potent, elemental, and critical reflection of society and where we are heading as a species. The message draws attention to the loss and devastation of our natural and man-made world. Conflict and division are themes across this EP. However, hope seems to find its way through the heavy subject matter, and the band does a brilliant job of highlighting a shift that the world quite frankly needs, a healing.
I felt I had to up my game to match the energy and incredible work I was tasked to represent. Keep up the sound, Fine Night Elements, it’s been a fantastic challenge and an honour to work on this project!”
