Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms and mother figures! I present this beautiful Orchid Catus flower. To photograph these I had my macro lens and 2-3 strobes. It’s been a minute since I’ve set up so many lights.
I recently got my approval for the kart track revival. I thought it’s good opportunity to reintroduce myself by creating a mockup of an ID card. I’m Matt and have been photographing the local drift events for many years. What I enjoy most is getting that sense of motion in a still image. Much easier said than done. Shout to Will @kellis.creative for the photo used as my id photo.
I noticed that my flow was a bit too much for the Ruby Tetras with just the jet outlet. I added the flow reliever to reduce the flow rate. They seem much happier with a reduced flow. I love how modular the Aquario Neo system is. As your tank evolves, you can change pieces to match your needs. I also created an aquatic only page @aquaticapex
Added a few more Ruby Tetras and they seem much happier. They move out in the open more which makes it easier to photograph. I’ll have to make sure the glass is cleaner for photos.
The Ruby Tetra is one really tiny fish. Perfect for nano set ups and a good alternate to the tiny Rasboras like Chili Rasbora. A bit of a challenge to photograph with their size and activity level.
Re-upload because of a typo! Thanks to @downshiftdame for pointing out the date error for the season opener! I had a funny idea about taking the 2026 schedule and making it a receipt. The QR code is functional and takes you to the website. I didn’t know what to do with the bottom so I kept it generic. Though I have an idea to replace it with some funny fine print like not liable for the fun had drifting and creating memories. I’ll have to think about what to put and make it long enough and funny.
EYB reimagined into a comic book /manga styling. After seeing the results of the top 9 from 2025. I had to revisit it again. I was curious how the night with the sparkle filter would look with this styling. I may play with more, I just need to sit and find images to try.
A look back at 2025 through my camera data. Most used lens is the workhorse 70-200mm and the 200-400m a smidge behind it. My most used focal lengths are 70mm, 85mm, 200mm and 400mm. The 85mm is my portrait lens but I sometimes use it at the track. No real surprises since I didn’t shoot much outside of drifting in 2025. It’s just fun to look back at this data. It also shows how active or inactive I was this year behind the camera.
