Celebrating the birthday of Georges Braque today.
A pioneer of modern art, Braque helped redefine the language of painting through his groundbreaking exploration of form, space, and perspective.
We’re pleased to share “Vase de feuilles” (slide 2) and “The Crystal Vase” (slide 3 & 4) from our collection in honor of his lasting influence on twentieth-century art.
“Crystal Vase” is one of four paintings commissioned from Braque by collector Paul Rosenberg for his home at 21 rue de la Boétie in Paris, together forming the celebrated “Rosenberg Quartet.” Each work occupied a separate wall of the dining room, while mosaics inspired by the paintings were inlaid into the floor, creating a remarkably harmonious environment.
Unique within the series for its restrained palette of muted beiges, grays, and soft oranges, Crystal Vase reflects Braque’s elegant handling of space and composition. The work combines his classicizing Cubist style of the 1920s with subtle homages to Jean-Baptiste-Siméon Chardin and Paul Cézanne.
Available through the gallery and online via Artsy. (Link in bio)

We are thrilled to announce that we now officially represent Amy Grantham! @_amygrantham ✨
Grantham’s work explores a compelling dialogue between sound and image, translating the structure and emotion of music into layered compositions of color, line, and form. Her practice transforms rhythm into visual harmony—where abstraction becomes both deeply felt and intuitively constructed.
Working primarily in pastel on paper, Grantham achieves a remarkable depth and luminosity, pushing the boundaries of the medium. Her compositions draw on traditions of abstraction, with echoes of Orphism and Synchromism, creating works that resonate between historical influence and contemporary expression.

“Timeless Elegance” by Jean Pierre Cassigneul — now on view at Findlay Galleries.
“Timeless Elegance” brings together paintings spanning four decades of Jean-Pierre Cassigneul’s practice — quiet, luminous works rooted in the French post-war figurative tradition. Known for his slender women in wide-brimmed hats, his dappled gardens, and his signature use of color as emotion rather than description, Cassigneul occupies a singular place between Nabis-era intimism and something entirely his own. This is his first solo exhibition in the United States in 40 years. @cassigneul_official

Joan Miró, painter, sculptor, printmaker, and decorative artist, was born in Barcelona on this day, April 20, 1893.
His work captivated André Breton, who saw in it a rare innocence and freedom — earning him a place at the heart of the Surrealist movement. In 1929, Miró began his experiments in lithography, developing a printmaking practice as bold and dreamlike as his paintings. These works remain some of the most beloved expressions of his visual language, and a testament to his legacy as a pre-eminent figure in the history of abstraction — an important example to generations of artists around the world.
