it took me such a while to go through every photo and video and still there are so many more beautiful ones I could share with yall. This was a beautiful day!!! Gorgeous and our baby Soleil is So-Loved!! I know I couldn’t hold back tears when I spoke in our impromptu speech session (thank you so much to everyone who jumped up or was pulled up to speak 🙃🙃🎤- we forget not everyone loves a crowd like her daddy & I) — and I can barely hold back tears writing this! Truly reflecting on how much love is in our life, and is already in this beautiful child’s life, is really outstanding. I am so grateful to those who really pulled this party together and showed their love through actions, words, dye, pickles, brownies, cookies, plane tickets, cards, gifts, notes in the inside of baby books passed down through life, presence, charcuterie, quilts, chocolate, sno’balls, and mostly ☀️time✨. All the sweetest things in life were brought together in an afternoon, and a pool party, and delayed flights to keep the beautiful energy going, and bike rides, bayou walks, meal trains, stroller set up, aunties and titis and meemaws and cronies etc. etc. I love yall so much. Thank you for witnessing this journey towards motherhood which I have long awaited and thank you to @gnswafford for your love 💗 🌞🌞🌞

Hey y’all♥️ I am conducting 45-60 minute interviews with environmental justice advocates, activists, and artists across our beautiful state! Please message me directly if you would like me to interview you for my PhD! My dissertation, From Buyouts to Benefits: Abolition Ecology, Climate Displacement, and Community Resistance in Louisiana’s Petrochemical Corridor, examines how petrochemical companies and government agencies have shifted their approaches to displacement in Louisiana—from overt buyouts and relocations to more recent strategies like Community Benefit Agreements and carbon capture projects framed as “just” or “green.” Alongside this, the research centers on how frontline communities continue to resist displacement, refuse extractive futures, and build alternatives rooted in care, land, and intergenerational continuity. The final chapter shifts from industrial strategies to community-led futures. It explores how Black and Indigenous communities across the Gulf South are practicing abolitionist ecology through land reclamation, cultural restoration, ecological repair, and collective care. Trying to reach over 30 interviews (and need about 5-10 more!). If you’ve already been interviewed thank you so much for your time WI’m feeling so inspired to continue because y’all are brilliant! 🌞🙏#environmentaljustice #louisiana #canceralley #research #academia

Two headlines. One system. Louisiana’s second majority-Black congressional district is struck down, weakening Black political representation. Shell’s Norco facility catches fire again, while the same corporation sponsors Jazz Fest with a recycling tent that performs environmental responsibility. This is what it looks like when civil rights are eroded while environmental violence continues — all wrapped in branding that asks us to smile and participate. A recycling tent at Jazz Fest does not erase refinery fires, toxic emissions, or the long-term harm imposed on frontline communities. These are not separate struggles. Political disenfranchisement and environmental racism are deeply connected. We are tired of being poisoned on every level. The Gulf South deserves clean air, fair maps, and real accountability — not greenwashed public relations campaigns. #EnvironmentalJustice #VotingRights #CancerAlley #Louisiana #JazzFest Shell Greenwashing RacialJustice

@royce_duplessis came by the #NewOrleans East Eco Justice block party & talked minimum wage & how, like environmental pushes, even when most people want it, it really comes down to what the people highest up. #foryoupage #localguide #travel #neworleansinfluencer

The countdown is onnnn. ⏳ ONLY 3 DAYS LEFT until the ❤️‍🔥Inaugural New Orleans East Annual Environmental Justice Block Party and Community Clean Up🌱 We’re rolling out at 📍Digby Park off of Downman and Dwyer, on 6600 Virgilian Avenue starting at 9 am🕘 📣SPECIAL GUEST announcement🗣️ State Senator Royce Duplessis @royce_duplessis will be in attendance on Saturday to share important information on how WE can get involved and support #SB356. This Fenceline Air Monitoring Bill would require petrochemical (oil & gas) companies that pollute our communities to ACCURATELY and TRANSPARENTLY report and monitor the toxic chemicals that many of us are breathing daily in Louisiana. 😷 Senate Bill 356 would require real-time air monitoring systems at certain industrial facilities — and send 🚨 alerts to the public when needed. Fenceline communities across this state have been asking for this for YEARS and the time is NOW. Senator Duplessis has also been fighting for working class people across Louisiana by working to lower insurance for 🏡homeowners so we can stay in our homes, helping to secure the state’s Second Black Congressional District, a historic milestone for fair representation🗳️ and racial justice in the state, and a personal one for me, extending postpartum leave coverage for working soon to be mamas (thank you!)🚼 Come out, listen and learn, and while you’re with us, enjoy some FREE snoballs 🍧 from @frostbite_snoballsandtreats , delicious (and free👀) crawfish 🦞from @castnetseafood & free vegan sides from @sweetvegansoulfood 🍠 New Orleans East’s own DJ RABBIT @djrabbit504 will provide the vibes and music, 🐇 and we can’t wait to see y’all there. 9 AM for the Clean Up!🌅 (yes we will have coffee☕️💋) Seats for the bus tour to Plaquemines are limited- so register TODAY at the link in bio 🌏🌍🌎
