Ever since I learned about spring water - I’ve realized not only is collecting water straight from the Earth a privledge, but it’s also an act of sovereignty & to some degree.. rebellion. Witnessing our society normalize the purchase of plastic water bottles has been really challenging for me. I grew up in South Florida.. a land historically defined by its springs systems & aquifers, within a single century become drained, paved over, urbanized & developed. Reconnecting to spring water is a larger act than simply collecting water. It’s about recognizing the deeply re-humanizing nature of drinking this precious, living mineral. Forever remembering who we are in relation to the Earth. This will always include protecting our water. Being a voice for our water. Find A Spring supports these journeys by mapping the cold water springs and hot springs along the way, giving these young men the chance to find the earth’s living waters and connect to them in a sacred way. 🏞️ Fresh water has carried life, healing, and meaning since the beginning of time. There is something that shifts in a young man when he steps away from the noise of the world and finds himself standing beside a mountain spring drinking from the earth, feeling its power, and remembering what it means to be alive. 🙏🏼 These are the moments that shape them. Tomorrow for World Water Day, March 22nd we are inviting you into our Find A Spring Water Guardian Pledge 💧 • I will visit my local spring or body of water • I will sit with her. I will listen. • I will make an offering of flowers, prayers, and gratitude. • I will reduce my plastic consumption and use reusable vessels. • I will be a protector for the waters through my voice and actions. The other day I had a vision of building an altar for our local fresh water spring here in Northern California. I wanted to create an experience for her.. To feel protected, adored, loved, cared for.. 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝓌𝒶𝓎 𝓈𝒽𝑒 𝒹𝑜𝑒𝓈 𝒻𝑜𝓇 𝒶𝓁𝓁 𝑜𝒻 𝓊𝓈 💧 I literally said during these moments of adorning the spring: “It feels as if she’s getting married.. she’s so lit up by all of our love right now” And somehow, that’s exactly what it felt like. As if the water was receiving our devotion and in return casting a quiet spell of joy, sweetness, and connection across all of our hearts. It was a magical morning with some exquisite women 🩵 I’m deeply grateful for the women in my life. The way we support one another’s visions, understand the deep call of creation, and uplift the missions moving through us. 🙏🏼 To me, water is the feminine, incarnate. Fluid, replenishing, a force, heart-quenching, beauty, 𝓂𝒶𝑔𝒾𝒸 𝒻𝓁𝑜𝓌𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝓉𝒽𝓇𝑜𝓊𝑔𝒽 𝓉𝒽𝒾𝓈 𝐸𝒶𝓇𝓉𝒽. Some experiences shape us for life and we believe.. 𝙢𝙚𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙬𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙞𝙨 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢. This last summer, Find A Spring collaborated with @loveactivists , a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in South Central, Los Angeles, to bring youth into direct relationship with spring water at @staymorningsprings in Ojai, California. Not through instruction.. 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚. Bare feet on stone. Laughter in water. Filling bottles with reverence. Understanding that water comes from somewhere - 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙚. 💧✨ Creating opportunities for youth to experience nature and living spring water is foundational to our mission as a water nonprofit. 🏞️ When connection is formed, stewardship follows. This is how protection begins. 🙏🏼 When children meet water at the source, something awakens.
