After two days of personal branding shoots, I’ve been reminded yet again of how almost every woman says the same thing before we start… “I’m going to look awkward…. You’re going to have to work your magic!” And I get it, because showing up in front of the camera can feel extremely vulnerable and uncomfortable. But during shoots something almost always shifts for women. They see the photos - realise they actually look like themselves (and look effing amazing!) and start feeling proud of their business, who they are, and excited to share them online. And I think general visibility in business works the same way. The fear is always huge before we start. But once you start showing up and noticing the results, your confidence builds and the reward outweighs the fear you felt beforehand. This is the shift I love supporting women to make, so they can call in more clients, more revenue, and more ease in their business (and in the worlds of their clients). Visibility is crucial in business. Because if people don’t know you exist… they can’t buy from you. But visibility on its own doesn’t automatically equal success. And this is one of the biggest challenges I see women in business struggle with. They’re capable. They’re experienced. They’re brilliant at what they do. But promoting themselves? That feels uncomfortable. Even women who’ve spent their entire careers marketing, supporting, or promoting other people often pull up short when it comes to their own business. So here’s the point I want to make: visibility only works when it’s supported by the right foundations underneath it. You need the mindset to keep showing up even when it feels uncomfortable. You need the strategy to know what to say and who you’re speaking to. And you need systems behind the scenes so your business can actually support growth when visibility starts working. Because otherwise you just end up posting inconsistently, overthinking everything, working too hard, and wondering why it’s not converting. Visibility matters. But sustainable business growth comes from what’s underneath it.
