Running is transformative.
When I started actually training for this marathon in December, I had a goal of sub-4hr, and to finish my first marathon with a 3:19:35 today is something I could have never imagined possible for myself. Six months of training and hundreds of miles - it created a level of confidence in myself that I had never tapped, and now I'm suddenly knocking on the door of a sub-3 with a Boston Qualifier (someday). This sport has changed the way I navigate my life.
Crazy big shoutout to my mom for getting behind me for this whole weekend planning the hotel and shuttling me and making sure I had everything I needed, and a CRAZY big shoutout to the three best friends I could ever ask for surprising me at mile 13 jumping up and down in support.
I started running because of other people inspiring me. I hope that I can offer that same gift to someone that doesn't think they can run for shit. Because you can. Also that was the hardest thing I've ever done.
I spent every summer here growing up and every moment felt like the best feeling in the world when it's 2009 and you're 13 years old on summer vacation 🙂
As each year has gone by, it still gives me that feeling of childlike wonder...
