Our next vendor blends clean midcentury lines with Arab hospitality: I’m thrilled to introduce you to Laila of Fig Tree Antique (@figtreeantique ).
Laila curates home goods that bring character and craftsmanship into everyday life. In her collection at Garlic Girl Vintage, you’ll find 70s dinnerware, teak trays, etched brass vases, hand-thrown pottery, embroidered textiles, and other timeless pieces made by hand and chosen for their utility.
Fig Tree Antique echoes the sacred symbolism of figs in Middle Eastern culture: abundance, peace, prosperity, and connection. Laila is so thoughtful with everything she brings to the table, literally and figuratively.
Welcome to GGV, Laila!!

Finally got my hands on these mid-century folk illustrations by Ziad Zokari, a gorgeous archive of Syrian dress and regional heritage.
Sharing my little love letter to Syria today in honor of National Liberation Day. 🇸🇾

The View-Master, introduced at the 1939 World’s Fair, wasn’t meant to be a children’s toy at all, it was considered cutting-edge “virtual reality” for adults. The earliest Bakelite models used brand-new Kodachrome film to create crisp, immersive 3D scenes of national parks, monuments, and far-away places most people would never see in person.
What I love most is how seriously people treated them in those early years. There were clubs dedicated to collecting scenic reels, photo studios that specialized only in View-Master photography, and travel companies that commissioned entire sets so families could experience destinations before booking their trips. These weren’t just souvenirs, they were tiny passports into the mid-century world.
We’re currently sorting through an incredible 1940s collection, and it truly feels like holding a pocket-sized time machine. If you’ve ever wanted a piece of analog magic from the days before scrolling, stay tuned!
