We see movement and plants as deeply intertwined expressions of life โ both shaped by forces that are felt as much as they are seen. Plants are never static; they grow, reach, coil, and respond in quiet negotiations with light and gravity.
Together with @plantvision.world , we are hosting a photography and ecology workshop that invites participants to observe movement beyond the human body via textures, rhythms, gestures, and the silent choreographies unfolding in the natural world.
Through image-making, collective observation, and embodied exploration, we will look at how plants adapt, communicate, and inhabit space, and how these forms of becoming might reshape the way we see ourselves in relation to our environments.

The first stop-motion film was created by Eadweard Muybridge in 1878. Called โThe Horse in Motionโ, it is an 11-frame clip that was created to settle a debate over whether all four hooves of a horse were off the ground at the same time when it gallops.
To capture the #movement of the horse, #Muybridge set up a series of cameras side-by-side along a track, each with a tripwire that would trigger the shutter when the horse passed by and take one photograph each. Using this technique, he captured a series of still images, each showing the horse in a slightly different position as it moved along the track.
He then used his own invention, a zoopraxiscope, to project them in rapid succession. This consisted of a rotating glass disk with a series of images painted around its edge. When the disk was spun and viewed through a light source, the images appeared to animate, creating the illusion of motion.
Muybridgeโs pioneering techniques laid the groundwork for photographic studies of motion, directly paving the way for the development of cinematography.
As we close 2025, weโre grateful for everyone who made this year such a meaningful one. Thank you for showing up, leaning in, and helping shape whatโs next.
Warmest holiday wishes from all of us at FIFTH WALL ๐ค

FIFTH WALL VI begins as it ends: from one end of the stage, to another, inviting you to replay your everyday gestures and rethink the routines of living within the bustling city. In this yearโs edition themed Muscle Memory, the creative gathering pushes viewers into the spotlight with analog art that encourages dance and play.
โFor this iteration, blending the principles of architecture and dance with the concept of movement notation, made the most sense,โ says @MadgeReyes , founder and festival director of FIFTH WALL (@fifthwall.ph ).
