An unedited glimpse into life lately - we have four projects going into construction this month, from SF to PA to Maine, our third photoshoot of the year in a few weeks, and grateful to have so many creatively fulfilling projects in the works.

- shot our outer sunset project (kitchen moved downstairs to open out onto the backyard - such a rare architectural move in our neighborhood, but makes so much sense for that indoor/outdoor life)
- hosted our design co-op retreat at the cabin - 2 days of deep reflection, work, and appreciation for this brilliant crew
- career read-aloud day at Max’s kindergarten class - found the perfect way to clear out samples and was reminded of the uninhibited creative genius of 5-year-olds
- evenings at the beach. because that’s what you do when it’s 80 degrees in SF
Scenes from our Inner Sunset furniture install. Such a solid gathering one-of-a-kind vintage and handcrafted works of art that have travelled here from far and wide. Seeing these pieces we’ve thoughtfully selected, carefully unwrapped and placed in their forever home, is one of my favorite parts of the process. Even the neighbor cat came by to check it out.
So glad we were able to make it out to the Catskills to shoot our wedding venue/hotel project last month, despite the epic snowstorm. It made for some beautiful snowy shots (I could picture all the cozy winter weddings that will take place in here). So fun shooting with @christiantorresphoto and styling dream team @bellaballade@ejnarins . Can’t wait to share the final images soon.

Our upstate NY wedding venue installation, captured on film by the talented @harperpix . So much of what we share here are the polished portfolio shots, but this is the real version of the final whirlwind hours of bringing a project to life. 14 hour days, endless punchlists, drywall dust in every crevice, piecing together the puzzle, a crew of artisans who care as much as we do about every last detail, down to the handcrafted stair baluster spacing. This is why we love what we do. Thanks for trusting us @hotellilien - it’s been a joy seeing the photos roll in of couples celebrating their love in this space we built.

A few color predictions for 2026 (basically the opposite of Pantone's 2026 color of the year - Cloud Dancer):
- Moody, warm browns
- Shapeshifting cool tones: is it blue, or grey, or green? Just depends on the light.
- Earthy limewash is still a favorite neutral
- Contrast trim in unexpected color combinations (think muddy olive + pinkish ivory)

2025 was a year of building and creating, and we can't wait to share more with you in the coming year. Kelly and I had the privilege of working on projects from the Outer Sunset to Upstate NY, and everywhere in between. From cabins to wedding venues, Eichler homes to Victorians, the variety keeps us inspired.
In this increasingly chaotic world, we're thankful to get to do what we love everyday.
We’re endlessly grateful for the clients who invite us into their spaces and trust us to help tell their stories through design. And to the builders, architects, and craftspeople who help bring our vision to life - we couldn't do it without you. Here’s to more connection and thoughtful work in 2026.
One of the highlights of 2025 was shooting our San Mateo Eichler project. Photoshoot days are the best - so exhausting, but so gratifying. Arranging florals and styling coffee tables, endless fabric steaming, all the vintage studio pottery. Can't wait to share the final photos.

Our client fell in love with this 1970s Mill Valley treehouse tucked in the redwoods, but the floor plan made the downstairs feel dark and unwelcoming. In order to create a tranquil primary suite, we converted an unused closet into a light-filled, zen bathroom with a custom white oak vanity and concrete countertop. In the bedroom, we designed custom oak millwork to replace the storage space in a more thoughtful way.
