Wood Ear Fungus (aka the jelly ear) is one of the UK's most easily identifiable edible fungi.
This jelly fungus usually grows from dead elder trees and forms cups that look like little mouse's ears 🐭👂
To help tell it apart from its lookalikes, remember these ears will always be facing downwards (listening to the ground)
It grows all year round but is a welcome sight in the depths of winter when there isn't much else growing.
🍄🟫 If you want to learn how to identify this mushroom in detail (and many other edible plants and fungi) You can book on one of my beginner friendly foraging courses (link in bio)
