We were glad to have a visually impaired @philaunion fan track the game live with our device earlier this season. Previously, this fan relied on listening to fellow Philly fans for updates, which, as you can hear, can be a quite interesting experience!
For those new here, Field Of Vision builds handheld devices that allow blind and partially sighted fans to follow the ball in real time. We take data from the match to track the ball's location while a magnetic ring on the device moves under the user's finger to mirror the action on the pitch. Haptic vibrations also let the user feel key moments like passes, tackles, and goals so they are part of the experience instantly.
Listen to that atmosphere! These blind @austinfc fans were able to follow the ball for plays such as this one during their exciting win at Q2 Stadium yesterday.
The Ecuadorian player wasn't the only one to feel that crunching tackle!
Visually impaired @usmnt fans in Austin today got to feel every tackle and track every goal through our haptic tablets during USA vs Ecuador.
Listen closely to hear the pass vibrations! A sharp, high-pitched vibration is a Shamrock Rovers pass, while a lower pitch signals St Joseph’s. Die-hard fan Brendan could finally follow his beloved Rovers independently for the first time last night. #Accessibility #ShamrockRovers #inclusivesports
