I've been having a great time painting for the No More Blank Walls Street Art festival @nomoreblankwalls in South Perth - first time using Resene paints and I have to say the colours and coverage is just bananas! I went crazy choosing some wild and bright colours and they honestly covered in 2 coats - WHAAAAT??? Anyways, if you want to stop in and say hi, I'll be painting at Village Green Shopping Centre Karawara tomorrow morning and also Friday.

More angles of the Cockburn ARC murals @melskiart and I designed last year. Super artist @sallyridgeart worked with me tirelessly to get these artworks installed and was responsible for things like a massive (3m high) round weight plate which is maybe one of the most difficult things to paint large. @blakepooleart came on board for the night shift to help with the murals over the cafe that had to be painted overnight and was always upbeat and chipper, even at 12am. I have vowed to never paint another basketball again... I used a Meta Quest to project the giant basketball, but even just tracing the placement of all the little dots took over 4 hours! But: I couldn't be happier with the final result!

I finally have some proper photos of myself that don’t make me immediately want to evaporate into mist! Huge thanks to photographer Frances Andrijich @francesandrijich for somehow capturing the version of me that exists in my head and not the gummy gremlin that usually appears when a camera is pointed at me.
These were commissioned by Apparatus @apparatus.art.culture for the Armadale Viaduct project and honestly they make me feel like a Real Professional Artist™. The Vulgar shirt (of my own design) also makes a star appearance and I am delighted I wore it because it feels extremely on brand for me. Emotional-support-hat is obviously also doing the Lord's work here too.
Also, no one warned me how often people ask for headshots once you start doing big projects. Having ones that actually look like me and not like I’ve been held hostage is a refreshing change ;)

A little October throwback to the first wall @sallyridgeart and I tackled at Cockburn ARC. This one was a collab between myself and the wonderful Mel McVee @melskiart and it absolutely kicked things off with bang!
We brought back our transparent black technique that we developed for the Whiteman Park murals and it was so good to use it again. It looks amazing once it is done but it really keeps us on our toes - there is no room for error if you're not mixing with white! Luckily I had Sally with me who not only helped paint the black elements but also kept the whole operation running smoothly with good vibes and chats!
The Meta Quest was a total game changer. No more gridding. We saved well over a full day by projecting everything straight onto the wall. I may never go back... I got one in June and I estimate it has saved me days of work!
And then there was the basketball... Those spots nearly finished me! I wore the Quest to place them properly which probably made me look genuinely unhinged and it still took more than three hours to paint every single one. I swear I am never painting another basketball again. Ever.
Huge thank you to Mel for being such a brilliant collaborator and to Sally who truly was the backbone of this wall. And massive appreciation to the City of Cockburn and the staff at Cockburn ARC who made us feel so welcome and somehow moved entire stacks of boards so we could get the lifts through the basketball court. Heroes.

A little September throwback because Flow and Flight is still making me feel happy when I see photos of it!
This humble Mandurah ablution block turned into something a bit special during the Mandurah Arts Festival. The final photos by the amazing @danicazuks show it in all its coastal glory.
Flow and Flight brings together all the local characters: dolphins from the FinBook, pelicans, ospreys, blue swimmer crabs, rock lobsters and whiting all woven through those swoopy lines and retro coastal colours. The whole idea was to capture that Mandurah feeling. Holiday energy, stories by the water, the rhythm of tides and wings and that deep sense of peace you get near the coast.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared their memories or just came to say hi while we painted. Mandurah was definitely a highlight of the year! Thank you to @sallyridgeart for being painting assistant and bringer-of-vibes extraordinaire, and also Noemie fro @city_of_mandurah for all your hard work and organisation to make this happen!

Flow and Flight celebrates Mandurah’s coastal soul. Dolphins from the local FinBook, seabirds swooping around, blue swimmer crabs, rock lobsters and whiting all mixed in with swooshy shapes and wiggly lines to capture tides, wings and movement. Classic Mandurah vibes.
