Unique fibre artworks made of CartaStaminea paper by Fides Linien including limited edition prints as well as embossed prints are currently available to discover and acquire at the gallery.
Created in 2024, the depicted piece is special: It combines CartaStaminea, a technique I have developed since 2007, with pulp print. A natural-toned centre of handmade paper is framed by pink handmade paper. I achieved this through a masking process and printing with coloured pulp. The result is a translucent work with layered depth made of paper and yarn.

In my capacity as IAPMA President, I traveled in March to Udaipur, India to spend ten days with artist and Congress Lead Convenor @annevilsboll . Together, we met with the team of the Co-Convenor Third Space @dharohar_udr and Indian artisans, and visited several inspiring places. I gained insight into Indian crafts as part of the preparations for IAPMA Congress 2027.
The purpose of the IAPMA Congress is to bring international IAPMA members including papermakers and paper artists together with local communities to exchange knowledge and foster international collaboration.
The IAPMA Congress 2027 will take place in Udaipur, India from February 10 to 14, 2027.
Registration for the Congress opens on July 1, 2026 through the website of @dharohar_udr

Here are some highlights from my visits to @leopold_hoesch_museum and the @mak_vienna . I often find myself in museums. As an artist, studying the past, especially Jugendstil and Art Deco, shaped my visual language.
And women… always women! ... a subject I keep returning to in my work. As a child, I imagined the surface I drew on as a mirror and created an alter ego of myself on paper, cardboard or canvas. That’s how this recurring theme entered my visual language, long before I understood what I was doing or why.

Visiting the exhibition "HELMUT LANG. SÉANCE DE TRAVAIL 1986–2005 / Excerpts from the MAK Helmut Lang Archive" in Vienna recently reminded me that I often use contradictions in my artistic work, placing opposites in dialogue. Fashion is the medium where this unfolds most easily, and it has therefore always been my favorite playground and a constant source of inspiration, no matter the medium I work with.
An example is "Vanitas", a series of collector’s plates. On their clay surfaces, fragile female faces emerge, capturing the ephemerality of youth and the absence of age. Shaped from clay, they recall classical ideals of beauty and the tradition of the decorative portrait, while subtly unsettling it through shifts in identity and form. These figures are gently altered with fetish-inspired forms, moving between the familiar and the uncanny to question femininity and the passive role of the feminine and the decorative image, opening a space where identity becomes layered.
~ These pieces will soon be part of my online gallery.

Over a lifetime, we grow into who we truly are. We are revealed through our actions, defined by the questions we ask, and reshaped through each act of reinvention. So… who am I? A momentary glimpse, because I consider myself never finished becoming.
I am a fine artist specialising in hand printmaking and papermaking. I have developed my own fibre art technique, CartaStaminea, through which I create delicate, one-of-a-kind works using handmade paper with embedded yarn, as seen in the piece I am wearing in the photograph above.
Alongside my artistic practice, I lead site-specific papermaking workshops and help businesses with design, branding and strategy, merging art and innovation to create tailored solutions.

They said "push it into existence and perfect it later.” So I did. My series of CartaStaminea experiments explores the possibilities and potential of my handmade paper. Though made of Abaca paper and yarn, CartaStaminea proves surprisingly durable, flexible and water-repellent.
The material can be used as cross-disciplinary as wearable art (couture), as accessory, jewellery or in architectural design. CartaStaminea is an innovative material that appears multifaceted, depending on how it is shaped or styled.

“A magic dwells in each beginning.”

For the first time, my new CartaStaminea experiments explore Abaca paper, which I made last summer. In this sample, I combined it with my black Gampi paper and threads of yarn. I am not yet fully satisfied as Abaca paper behaves very differently from the Kozo fibre I usually work with, which has led me to develop a new production process that remains secret for now.
To me, Abaca paper looks like milk, it is soft and sensitive like a woman's skin. It opens unexpected possibilities, offering new effects that continue to reveal themselves as I work.
... You’ll recognize the motif in one of my upcoming posts - more about it soon.

Let’s catch up ~ Alongside my ongoing artistic practice, my work and travels with The Xsabo Foundation, IAPMA e.V. and other clients, I’ve been reworking a large body of my artworks created between 2008 and 2021. This process has been intense, requiring time and a fresh perspective. I’ve invested in new custom-made frames and, since November 2024, I have been documenting my artworks through photo shoots and inventory lists.
All of this is building toward something special: the launch of my own online gallery in autumn 2026, where you can purchase my art. The technical side still needs a bit more time to come together.
... it's going to be fabulous!!

Too intriguing not to share: after the IAPMA Congress 2025 in Shanghai in November, the Post Congress Tour explored Hangzhou, a region famous for its cultural sites and Fuyang Bamboo Papermaking.
During the tour we visited amongst others, Lingyin Temple and Feilai Feng Grottoes, Made in Nature Folk Art Materials Research Center, Archaeological Excavation of Sizhou Papermaking Mill, Fuyang Museum, Huang Gongwang Memorial Hall and we participated in a workshop by artist Shi Hongling about the Intangible Cultural Heritage pottery mould transfer to bamboo paper. The trip offered a rich blend of culture, history and inspiration for art and paper art.

How time manifests in things I deeply admire, each sheet ~ a century of care:
Christmas came early this year and I was gifted some sheets of handmade bamboo paper from Zhu Zhonghua, who is a 13th-generation master of traditional bamboo papermaking, a craft recognized as part of China’s intangible cultural heritage. His family has produced handmade paper in Fuyang, Hangzhou for centuries, supplying materials for calligraphy, painting and bookmaking.
Each sheet is made through a multi-stage, manual process, including harvesting and fermenting bamboo, steaming, beating into pulp and forming sheets with traditional moulds. The workflow involves more than 70 steps and can take several months from raw bamboo to finished paper. This meticulous process produces paper that is strong, durable, archival and uniquely textured, with qualities industrial paper cannot replicate. It is highly valued for calligraphy, ink painting, handmade books, manuscripts, document and artwork restoration and ceremonial or decorative uses, including commemorative products for the Hangzhou Asian Sports Games.
Over 40 years, Zhu has refined these techniques and now teaches Chinese apprentices, ensuring this centuries-old craft and its intangible cultural heritage continues into the future.
