Bountiful greenhouses have more than we expected to be able to share! Editing/ordering is now extended till 8am Tuesday (or we sell out) so everyone can get extra green goodness. 💕
Are you planning a garden this summer too?
There are lots of “Seedy Saturday” events happening around us - great gatherings of gardeners with a free seed swap table, seed vendors, and everyone present is full of gardening excitement. We’ll have a veggie booth at Belleville event tomorrow, don’t be shy to come chat growing pointers! I’ll be talking about the easiest veggies to grow at home, storing veggies and food security at 11am. See you there?
There are events in Kingston and Toronto too here’s the link to a listing of all events in Canada! Just use the pop-down on the right to narrow down to Ontario. http://seeds.ca/events/
Rye oh my! Stephanie grew her best cover crop yet… Got it seeded on time in the fall, survived the winter, grew in the spring, and caught it at the perfect time to terminate. Now that’s some passion for grass. The soils should love it, and then grow us all great veggies. 😋
🌱 Planting up a storm! 🧅 It’s a wrap on a full garden block of Alliums, that’s the onion family plants including red, yellow, shallots, leeks and negi.
What’s under the melting snow? Cover crops get us excited to see the ground protected as the nice drying winds of spring pick up. In different places, we have: oats/peas, rye, landscape fabric, and crop debris with weeds.
Mid-winter locavore’s internationally inspired lunch: German farmer’s bread, butter, watermelon radishes and a sprinkle of salt with Argentinian mate cocido!
