"Love is everything" is the new original song by Voices of Hope, @4refugeewomen 's choir who I am honoured to work with. Check out the full video on their page, and to read more about the choir, read the blog post linked in my bio 💖 the beautiful artwork is a commission from @soofiya , who I can't recommend enough as a collaborator 💖
New Work: Last month I shared a post saying I had space for more design work, and that I love work around themes of love, care, community, food, nature. Then this beautiful project with @4refugeewomen found its a way to me, and I was invited by @fictionalfatima to create artwork for the debut single released by a choir formed through Women for Refugee Women. You can listen to over on their insta. The group wrote the song together. It’s about unity, care and standing up for each other. Titled Love is Everything. Hoping Allah keeps sending more work and projects and things like this my way 🤞🏽💛✨
🎶🎤 Release day!
Our Choir of refugee women, Voices of Hope, is proud to release their original song “Love is Everything”.
The Choir meet weekly to connect, build confidence, and share solidarity through lyric writing, composing and singing.
Through music and melody, they remind us that all we need is love to build a community rooted in care and kindness.
Please listen and share! 💜

Delulu day in my life!! Working on a cool project with @4refugeewomen on the train journey, teaching seminars on museums and colonial legacies @geographyuom , got a free iced coffee and karak chai and even got to try some tin whistles 🐦
(reality: beyond overstimulated and indefinitely waiting for a cancelled train to get home) #manchester #dayinthelife #museums
I wrote a book about improvisation and the ways we tell stories and it was published @openbookpublishers_ one year ago today!
I have 2 copies to give away so I'm doing a raffle for @walk4pal 's fundraisers supporting friends and family in Gaza. Here's how it works:
🧿 simply comment IMPROVISE on this post and I will send you a direct link to enter by making a donation of £5
🧿 I will randomly select two people out of everyone who donates before May 6
🧿 I will get in touch with the winners and post you the books on May 7 ✨
Please enter and share, you might get a book and you will definitely be supporting an important cause ❤️
My phone is constantly running out of space but I want to document some of these times in Cairo last month as part of my beautifully slow process of making new work about all the different ways recorder and voice can meet each other, buzz, harmonise, unionise, go sour, transform each other ..
Thank you so much @whatabouttheash for these photos taken last week at @anotherskyfestival l 🧿❤️ I was so happy to be invited to perform at this beautiful festival. My programme was inspired by imagining what another sky would sound like, look like, contain... I performed one of my own poems about birds who obstruct israeli planes, with fairouz's jayebli salam on one side and a sung version of Danez Smith's 'poem' on the other. I also got to play from my zine-score "this is a map" which I made in Cairo last month, alongside recordings of songs I recorded from the window on Eid morning. The last piece was another poem of mine about children with hearts like birds, which turns into a lullaby I wrote thinking about very loved family members. It was the first time I've ever performed my own words on stage! Thanks so much to everyone who came and to Sam and Emily for inviting me and for creating such a lovely space. All the other performers were also phenomenal and such a privilege to get to hear them 🤩
