50+ total miles on foot through Zion and Havasupai, and the juice was worth every bit of the squeeze. I highly recommend doing this trip.

This day started at level 3, which is arguably worse than a 4-5 for this exact reason. This was directly off the lift. Not a rope duck, not a closed run. The first part of this run the snow was holding pretty strong sitting just around 30°. After traversing skiers left to get around some rocks and find a cleaner line, this section slid underneath me just as I was about to turn in and start riding. We quickly regrouped and exited the area, spending the rest of the day in more mellow terrain. This video shows that even right off the lift with many precautions, we can never be too safe and still have a lot to learn!

Crazy storms out here in the Alps leading to incredibly variable and unstable conditions.

Our timing on this one was very lucky, as we were leaving the most avvy affected areas just before they started having issues. To my friends headed for the alps…stay safe!
