As voter suppression tightens its grip on Texas, we must steady our hands, name the moment, and rise together—before the silence of a weakened democracy becomes permanent.
Democracy doesn’t defend itself, that’s our job.
Last night I was honored to attend the @LoneStarProject 2026 Defend Democracy Dinner alongside one of the true giants of our country, Congressman Jim Clyburn. His message was clear: we’ve faced daunting moments before, and we’ve won, but only because people refused to stand still.
We’re in one of those moments right now. Rigged maps. Barriers to the ballot. A system being engineered to silence communities like ours. That’s exactly why I’m running, to bring this fight to Congress and make sure every voter has a real voice.
Thank you to Matt Angle, Lisa Turner, and the entire Lone Star Project team for building a space where this work is taken seriously. The moment is hard. The mission is clear. Let’s get to work. 🗳️
Dallas! On May 20, I’m joining Rev. Freddy Haynes in Dallas at @friendshipwest for a conversation on Redeem a Nation: The Century-Long Battle to Restore the Soul of America.
From the pulpit to the courtroom, from Greenwood to Dallas, this is a discussion about what it means to be faithful to history, and to the work repair demands of us today.

It was a blessing to be in community with the Muslim Medical Alliance of Dallas at their annual Gala 2026. This wonderful event spotlights the service of healthcare professionals who care and serve with a sense of purpose and excellence. I’m grateful that they are raising the standard in healthcare!

Prayer isn’t a waiting room it’s a call to action. Faith that doesn’t move is just comfort. Pray with your feet, your voice, your whole self. Defend the truth. Show up for your neighbors. We were built to overcome, not to be consumed. Together.

Cinco de Mayo is a reminder of something I’ve seen in this community my whole life — a people who fight, who resist, who rise.
That strength is in your families, your businesses, your culture. It doesn’t flinch. It doesn’t back down.
That’s the spirit I’m taking to Congress — for all of us.
¡Feliz Cinco de Mayo!
