Company Choir will be a collaboration between artists, performers and new creators/writers in and around Edinburgh. We're so excited to introduce the amazing Filip @fholacky 👏 We have the honor of being able to sing Filips brilliant new work, as well as learn from him when he comes in for masterclasses and as an MD and Vocal Coach 🔥 Filip Holacký is a Czech composer and playwright living in Edinburgh. He studied Composition at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and Scriptwriting at the Open University and the Juilliard School. His musical PROJECT: WALTER, about an android ballet dancer, opened Off-West End in 2025. He's currently working on THE OTHER FRANCES, a Regency-era queer musical commissioned by Leeds Conservatoire, and ALICE ALIVE, an absurdist almost-one-woman musical short film. His concert works have been performed internationally by ensembles including the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de México, Red Note Ensemble, Opera Diversa, Cuarteto Madrigal, Oberton String Octet, C4 Ensemble, and Brodick Quartet. He has won composition competitions including the C4 Composition Competition in New York, the Oberton International Composition Competition in Austria, and the Edinburgh Studio Opera Award for Best New Opera, among others. Filip currently lectures at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. In his free time, he enjoys caffeine consumption, not finishing his to-be-read list, and video gaming. His favourite ensemble piece (at the moment) is A Wild, Wild Party from, you've guessed it, the Wild Party 🤡

🎭 Master of Arts in Scriptwriting, babyyy ✨ Still don't know how to spell or construct a normal sentence, but now everything's infused with a three-act structure and heightened stakes. Turns out studying a metric ton of Shakespeare and Chekhov doesn't make the cringe go away, it just makes it articulate. Can't recommend getting a creative writing degree in your second language unless you're actively seeking chaos and possible brain damage. Anyway, posting this before I completely forget about it since I've already started another program ("Fun times," he proclaims hysterically). Eternally grateful for the community of people who let me create/create with me/keep the snacks coming. You're the real MVPs. Onward to whatever unhinged project is next (and there's a couple of the really exciting ones coming up both in the UK and NYC)!🥂

It’s been a casual time lately (by which I mean ... feral). I somehow got commissioned to write an ENTIRE NEW MUSICAL, which is currently wearing a Regency corset, flirting with everyone in the room through legit singing, and behaving in a deeply queer and historically inaccurate way. It premieres next July at a UK uni whose name I am legally whispering into the void for now, so consider this my final social-media yell of the year before I disappear into my notebooks for another rewrite fuelled by copious amounts of mummy's Christmas baking. A lot of thanks are in order— Huge thanks to @liamtiesteel for making this happen and believing in my work. You could’ve picked literally anyone else and made your life ten times easier, but instead, you chose chaos and art—and restored my faith in this industry and the joy of taking risks. Now I can’t imagine doing this with anyone else. ❤️ @adamjmaclean took my tiny understanding of dance (read: none) and turned it into a whole world that moves exactly like my music sounds. That’s actual magic. @harrisonvaughann is THE perfect leading man. I’ll never stop being in awe of you—your presence, your voice, your everything. @katestevensonnn stole my heart the second she walked into her audition. I feel so lucky this was her professional debut because the world is about to get absolutely wrecked by her talent. @fergus_dale_ what a dream reunion after our RCS days. Those high notes will haunt me for a long time 💯 @jilldavy22 transformed what was meant to be a supporting role into the emotional backbone of the whole show. An absolute legend and heart of gold. The ensemble @ellietames @caithutley @__taylorhayes @_benrandall_ @harrychaloner @reece__davies set the bar so high it’s basically on the moon. Your dancing is the reason this show exists. @dan.k01 thank you for keeping my sanity semi-functional. No one will ever truly know how much worse this could’ve been 😂 Our tech dream team @tomsadlerlighting @harrycarnabysound @jakeonsound made everything look effortless, elegant, and smooth as butter. Real MVPs. 🔥 @benjaminjdwyer — thank you for helping us assemble this truly ridiculous cast. @lisakimberly.sch and @alicejrennie — thank you for bringing balance to the (very dude-heavy) universe with your angelic presence and costume wizardry. The neverending shoe sewing alone deserves a Tony. And finally, the band — @delnero.carolina @noah.pott99 @isidortenhooven @beckyslaterdrums I have no idea how I’d survive this wild score without you. I swear I’ll learn how to show the proper tempos one day. Promise. 🫶

“The Next Big Thing” doesn’t just happen overnight, and it truly wouldn’t be the beast it is without the small village of people behind it; the creative team, tech, and cast. I’m constantly amazed by the generosity of everyone involved, and humbled by the wonderful reception this production has received from both audiences and reviewers.
