Few books have had such an influence on my musical path as @nelsonfariaoficial ‘s “The Brazilian Guitar Book”, directly responsible for new collaborations and opening my horizon to a wealth of incredible music and artists.

From Berlin to the Hong Kong waterfront, the sounds of the Fragrant Harbour’s past and future
Chiyan Wong is a true original—bold, brilliant and brimming with imagination. Born in Hong Kong, trained in London, and now based in Berlin, he combines classical and jazz influences in programmes full of audacity and vision. His own repertoire ranges from early Baroque to music so new that it’s still drying on the page.
Together with a trio of Berlin musicians—Francesco Fusco on the guitar, Hiromu Seifert on the drums and Thomas Kolarczyk on the double bass—Wong fuses classical and jazz in a daring and imaginative programme that captures the soul of old Hong Kong and the energy of its future. Inspired by the city’s cultural roots, history and innovation, his unique musical voice reflects a heady mix of influences from the songs of Hong Kong’s historic boat-dwelling fishermen to Brazilian bossa nova and Debussy. The titles of his own compositions such as Plectropomus, Sampan and Incensitivity pay tribute to Hong Kong’s eternal relationship with the ocean and to the incense tree that gave our city its name.
With a spirit rooted in history and a welcoming eye on the future, Wong and his fellow musicians will delight audiences in a thoughtfully curated programme at a thoughtfully curated programme at two different venues with a slightly different repertoire, offering different settings to experience the magic of the pianist-composer who reshapes music in his own vibrant, joyful voice.
Advance bookings will start at 10am on 16 October 2025
